Introducing Salary Sorter and Bills Pots 🎉

Apologies if this has been covered later in the thread, but don’t have time to read it all.

This post I’ve quoted has happened to me too - moving upcoming payments to the bills pot has removed them from the Committed Spending total on the Summary.

This is a little bit of a pain as that’s the number I’d look at to decide how much I’d divvy out into my bills pot using the Salary Sorter. I know I can manually tot it up, but that seems a bit un-Monzo.

I appreciate stuff like this would probably be addressed in the revamp of Summary, so I thought it would be worth mentioning now.

I see there’s a ‘left to pay’ option at the top of the pot, with my monthly salary cycle set, which is really handy. I guess the icing on the cake would be to have the total that gets paid from that pot every month identified somewhere, which would resolve my mild grumble above.

I agree

Used salary sorter this morning and it shows the amount allocated to the bills pot next to the bills pot

Ah, brilliant news. Ta.

Ah, this didn’t happen to me, so I had to guess. Perhaps it’s because my next bills pot cycle doesn’t start until tomorrow so there’s £0 to pay in this cycle? Having said that, there didn’t seem to be enough space to say how much was allocated to the pot.

i think that might be it. I restarted my budget period before i sorted

it was in very tiny writing

I had a bit of a bug. I used the “get paid early” thingy, and once that had gone in (taking a good few seconds and app reboots to show in the balance) all my pots disappeared and the total balance was only showing my main current account balance.

It wasn’t until I’d used the Salary Sorter that my pots all suddenly came back into existence (with their balances in tact - phew! haha!)

That’ll teach me to be impatient and get my salary too early… when I didn’t really need it yet!!

The app is having a moment, it’s not just you

Used salary sorter a couple of times - no problem. But I’ve never saved it for next time.

This morning I did - is there a way to cancel / edit the salary sorter? Can’t seem to find this.

Cheers,

Not until next time

When your salary goes in next time you’ll have the option to sort it based on the saved amounts or edit it

I had this issue this month too, due to being paid early for Xmas. It usually shows the whole amount as I sort on the first day of a salary period, but this month only showed what was left during last month’s salary period. I also had to estimate from what I paid in for the previous month.

Hi all,

Just started using Bills Pots for DD, and just have a question to a feature that I might not understand correctly.

In my pot I have “Left to Pay” 31st Dec to 30th Jan, which currently says £0.00.

  1. I understand that it’s supposed to display the DD amounts registered for the period given, but on my MA for tomorrow it says Virgin Media (paid from bills pot) £XX, so Monzo has registered the payment amount, so why does “Left to Pay” £0.00 then?

Is the amount showing up next month based on previous month’s amount, because if that’s the case it’s not very useful as e.g. my British Gas bill is changing next month. Previous banks I have had has been able to display the exact DD amounts due.

  1. “Left to pay” indicates that it will reduce throughout the month as bills are paid, so eventually it will show £0 once no more are pending?

Hope you can enlighten me a bit  Thanks!

Not sure about point 1  mine displays the right figure. Maybe when it’s greyed out it removes it from left to pay. Have no DDs due til the end of the month so not sure. Is this the first time you’ve paid virgin media from your monzo account?

No bank knows how much the direct debit will actually be until the company requests it, which is a couple of days before it’s taken. The amount shown is what the last payment was because monzo have no idea yet what it will actually be

Yeah, left to pay will be £0 when all have been paid this month

If you get more then one payday in a mouth how would this work I only just switch to monzo nit been payed yet just wondering how it woohoo work.

You get a salary sorter per different payment, as long as they’re over £100

So I not had my pay days yet but do they get combined together or

They don’t become combined. When your payment is showing as due in your feed, click it and you can use the salary sorter on each one.

Do this for all payments over £100

No. You tap on the payment when you get it and you can set up a salary sorter for it. You can set up a different one for your ESA and one for your PIP
