Introduce yourself šŸ‘‹

Hello. I’m new to Monzo - how do I get the card sent out? I’ve read that you present valid ID, but haven’t been given the opportunity to do so. Could you help? Thanks

Have you registered through the app and done a video?

I’m on the app now, registered, but I haven’t seen any prompt to do a video.

Hello. I’ve had Monzo for quite some time now, using it initially as a convenient travel card. Now I’ve quit the 9-5 and I’m going it alone with my photography business I’m holding out for a business account, Monzo has been a great current account so idea prefer to use the same company for my business.

Hi I’ve not yet registered with Monzo but am looking at it real hard. Currently comparing reviews with rivals. Registered in case I have questions!

Wow, that took me ages to work out how to post! Hope this is the right place!

Hello I’m Maddie and I’ve had Monzo for a couple of years. I find it very convenient as I live in a boat and all the paperworky ā€˜only send a card to your verified address’ stuff just doesn’t work for me.

I also work for a tech startup which is breaking some preconceptions - what3words - so I’m very interested in how Monzo does things and communicates its mission.

Looking forward to being part of the community

Opened.ferrying.turns

Wonder if you can have personalised entries ?

Eg Stuff.like.that for Quincy Jones

Actually no, because they are all preassigned and fixed. But stuff.like.that is a real place - in a field in Illinois! ( w3w.co/stuff like.that )

Hi All,
I help businesses make sense of their finances, put in controls, efficiencies, ensuring that the financial reporting process is seamless and close to accurate.

After bridging the gap on efficiencies in financial reporting, the reports can be used as the basis for planning and modelling the growth of the business.

Fintech banks play a very important role in putting in controls, to make the financial reporting process more efficient and that is why I love the proactive features offered my Monzo.

If you are interested in making your financial reporting and business finances more efficient (identifying which part of the business is more profitable, being in control of your cash flow), then contact us at www.parizma.com

There is more Monzo can do and they seem to be on the right track. I am really excited about the future of Monzo and businesses who take advantage of it.

I am considering changing from my current bank and was intrigued by this. Switching to a completely digital bank is appealing to me.

I’m 62 years old, currently working as the Global Database Admin for a large entertainments company (no, not the one with the mouse).
I am interested in Data Security and Data Quality as part of my job

I am looking to move house this year and have an unusual amount of cash on hand (for the new house) which will be increased when we sell the old house, albeit temporarily.

Anyway, I wanted to know a few of things.

Is the Monzo card a Credit or Debit card? I’ve spent the last 5 years getting rid of multiple Credit cards, leaving just one with zero balance for emergencies. I’d much rather use a Debit card.

With Standing Orders, can I set one up with differing Start payments, then 11 monthly payments?
I only have one like that, but it’s a requirement.

Does Monza support two-factor authentication? I use a Yubikey for physical security and the Microsoft Authenticator (I’ve found that one to be the most reliable) on my phone, alongside 1Password for secure vault. This is an absolute requirement. I can’t imagine using any financial service that doesn’t use 2FA.

As for myself, I like tech, coffee, video games, music, coffee and I do photography as a hobby (was a pro for about 10 years, many years ago). Yes, I shoot people and sometimes cut their heads off.

I like both cats and dogs and have had many companions over the years. sadly none at the moment though due to the impending move.

That’s a no, then. Monzo depends on your phone’s security and knowledge of your PIN for day to day protection. So I use Face ID to open the app, and then need the card PIN to move money.

Oh, that’s a shame. You know Face-ID can be spoofed with a photo, right?
I’m reasonably happy with fingerprint auth for my current bank so if it works with that, it’s a maybe (Still 2FA, something you have (finger) and something you know (Pin)) Would be better with a One Time Password though.

You unlock the app with your fingerprint, then to move any money you need to enter your pin or fingerprint again.

If you wanted yet another layer you can move the app to the Android secure folder (or IOS equivalent). So it will have even greater security and will also be hidden from view etc.

If you think your account has been compromised (lost card for example) you can immediately freeze it at the tap of a button to prevent any further actions. There is also a web portal should you lose your phone too: https://web.monzo.com
