Introduce a BLM variant of the App icon

It’s not about protests.

I suppose VE congas were alright though?

No they weren’t.

Would a VE day badge have been tolerable, though. Given many involved weren’t doing the conga?

(For the record, I’m being sarcastic in my VE day fervour)

Don’t really need it though do you, not sure how Apple and the iPhone works but with Android you can assign any icon you want to your apps
I’m sure there’s already suitable images out there you can download to use

Tru but it would be nice for monzo to support the PoC community in the same way it shows support for the LGBTQ+ community, at minimum.

I’ve posted before that I don’t think there should be any political type badges etc.

And where does it stop? Islamaphobia and antisemitism are real issues and you then get into discussions about why one group over another doesn’t have a badge etc.

If you think there should be logo variants for those in monzo you’re welcome to make a separate thread in support of them.

And I would vote for them.

I don’t which is why I’ve said I don’t support it. As there is no “vote against” button on the threads then the only way to oppose a suggestion is to post.

Although I do appreciate that many do support these things.

I do think there’s a bit of an issue with using race and religion interchangeably when it comes to that sentiment; let alone the use of the term political, given it doesn’t have a uniform conceptual definition

Why? Racial and religious discrimination is equally wrong and neither is worse than the other.

Good. The only statements worth making about the current protests are small p political ones. Anything else is just shamefully sitting it out

Let’s keep this to a discussion of an icon in an app as per the thread title. While there’s lots of other stuff going on, we’re running rapidly off the topic of the Monzo app here!

Just turned mine black using a photo editor, I get why some want an official update in app from Monzo itself but still it does the same thing kind of

I’m against it in principal because where do you stop.

Merely pointing out that terming it something to get involved with ‘politically’ isn’t particularly relevant. Neither is bringing in the idea of excluding support for forms of religious discrimination as its a different issue, not in terms of its importance, but its form and its relevance to BLM

I appreciate your sentiment but this is a one of the small things on this forum that annoys me, and I’m sorry to pick up on your message specifically. People often come on here for a request for monzo or advice for monzo, and people give them work arounds instead.

Sometimes that makes sense, or it’s the only option, but no one asked how can I make my own blm logo. They want an official monzo one in app.

That’s cool, what app is this?

You can pick on whatever message you like, I’m not sorry about your response.

It’s an open forum about discussion of whatever people one, I’ve provided a workaround and what? If it serves a purpose in the interim so be it. End of day we can all comment on threads do long as they are in topic which this certainly is.

Who knows Monzo could be doing this icon right now but given that they’ve pretty much abandoned the forum of late we’re unlikely to know

Was just whatever basic image editor was on my phone it just has a black and white setting

It just seems dismissive is all I mean. Someone asked for monzo to implement a feature. Doing it yourself doesn’t have the same effect. No statement has been made.

It’s also not accessible to the average customer. Doing it in app makes it accessible to everyone.
