Influencer marketing

I have seen a few “influencers” advertising other Fintech bank accounts but not seen anyone advertising Monzo! Has anyone else noticed this?

I’m surprised people pay any attention to people like this, it’s a sad state of affairs, or maybe I’m just getting old :rofl:

Bó spent a lot of money paying influencers to advertise their product

Monzo mustn’t think it’s worth the cost

Maybe I’m getting old too? “Influencers”? What a load of…

They get plenty of actual customers doing it for free :man_shrugging:. Paid for ‘influencer’ marketing always seems really sleazy to me.

I seem to recall reading they have done it in the past from another thread on here a while back

Influencers are the worst. You think it’s bad that sometimes companies approach them and pay them to post their product? It’s worse when you get influencers walking into a business and asking for free stuff because they can “put it on their 'gram”. The restaurant and hotel trade get this quite badly.

I’m not against it, it’s advertising :man_shrugging: and it usually works

If i saw an “influencer” advertising monzo it would literally diminish my view of them

Such a gimmick and not needed

I use influencers in my business. Why wouldn’t I? If it generates profit I would be crazy not to. Monzo either don’t out of choice or because they already tried to and it didn’t work. And that is fine too.

The key word is USE. It is a business transaction. They aren’t getting something for free if there is nothing in it for me. However, I identify who I want to use. I ignore people who approach us.

I think there’s also a difference between good social media marketing, and people who fill the “I’m an InFLuEnCEr” stereotype.

It’s only really the bad ones you tend to notice!

How Bill Hicks thought of Advertiser’s is how I feel about influencers

Wait until you see the fake “influencers” that actually post fake ads: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/12/influencers-are-faking-brand-deals/578401/

I’m sure I read in a topic that someone was a Monzo influencer?

Why would anyone trust an “influencer” when it comes to banking choices?! :open_mouth:
