Mumbai Mix looks really nice, I wanna go to one of their stores
It actually does look good
in all fairness can you not ask Cops or help@monzo.com to re-open your account and try and sort through this with the correct details and all the evidence you can get from wherever - and if you still don’t get any satisfactory conclusion take it through the next steps available to you
- I also believe any payments over £30 and your phone would need to be unlocked for the transaction to go through ???
Thank you for your advice, I will try to contact them to re-open it if they can!
Certainly on iOS you would needed to have done biometric or pin authentication
I don’t understand. If I saw an unauthorised transaction I would freeze the card immediately. Not wait for another one to go through a couple days later?
I wouldn’t even bother trying to fathom this one out if I was you…
Given they’re street food stalls the stall and transaction could have been in Central London even if the transaction history is saying Borehamwood.
I had to do either of the above too when I used Galaxy Devices… I thought it was a pre-requisite of NFC payments?
Yeah it should be. I was calling out iOS purely because I don’t know a lot of the ins and outs of google pay but imagine it’s the same as iOS and other CDCVM payments
Good point. Having seen the website link, I note there’s one in Bloomsbury every Thursday. That’s not a million miles away from Tottenham Court Road.
Its like Sunday night Sherlock Holmes
Oh…I actually think I remember the Mumbai Mix
it was at the farmers market in front of UCL. I bought food for my friend
but defo not the Wandsworth one though. I was at my friend’s house in King’s Cross last night.
try and get your account re opened and sort it out with Monzo

Anything over £30 requires phone to be unlocked for Google Pay, and you can’t set-up Google Pay if you don’t have biomatics or PIN lock set-up on your phone.
I’ve just investigated this and it does seem that both transactions were made using Google Pay (Android Pay).
The way that Apple and Google Pay works is that the PAN (aka 16 digit card number) is cryptographically tokenized and that token is stored on your phone. If you use your Monzo account on Apple/Google Pay on multiple devices then each one would have a unique token.
As per the screenshots posted of your chat with support, these transactions would have had to have been made using the phone due to the way the tokenisation works.
Yeap I’ve just remembered that one! Read the comment above!
Good sleuthing! Looks like that’s cleared that up for us!
Sleep on it you might remember the 2nd one tomorrow morning ![]()
