yep my signature has stars in it and every now and then smaller shops that see a ton of fraud will ask to see the signature on the back of the card (and/or my ID)

What with not accepting cards without signatures, limited contactless use, refusal of non embossed cards, etc, etc, it’s a miracle that people manage to use cards at all in the USA

These are pretty common in US. Most customers cards are signed.

I checked each and every signature as a clerk.

I’ve loved reading all the various threads regarding the differences between UK and US banking.
I’m also very interested in how the challenger banks are getting around these differences.

Confirm the Customer’s ID

When possible, ask your customer for a government-issued ID to confirm that they are the legitimate owner of the card being used.

It just goes to show, despite all of their faults, we in the UK have a pretty good banking network.

TBH PINs are incredibly annoying. I rarely if ever have to sign anymore.
