Hi please could someone help me !thank you so much!

Hi everyone !

I applied for an account with monzo mainly to transfer between my Barclays account & to use when travelling I know many friends use monzo when on holiday I went through the verification process ( took the video etc ) I was sent an email which asked me to send a selfie holding my passport via email I don’t want to leave my application on hold any longer but I am worried about how secure this as from my research it can be a huge risk with your details.from my previous experience with other banks it’s always been done through the app ,never through email. The email is help@monzo.com I have a good credit score so I don’t want to ruin it by not completing the verification plus I would like to have an online based bank because as of yet I bank with high street banks

I would appreciate the help

Thank you so much

You won’t ruin anything by not completing.

For whatever reason Monzo want more proof that you are you.

Complete it or don’t, nobody will know why they are asking. Your credit score means zero, Monzo score you themselves on their own criteria.

If you’re not comfortable, walk away. There are plenty of other banks.

Otherwise send the video and then you can continue with your application.

Thank for your response ,I have sent it but now I am panicking as everyone has told me it can be used to steal my identity I now regret it as I already have bad anxiety and am usually very careful I got a response from monzo thanking me for sending it and they will be 8n touch soon but now I feel on edge as I know emails are not secure hoping it’s not a scam

It’s a possibility it could be hacked but in the same way it’s possible that Taylor Swift could ring my doorbell this afternoon.

If it came via the app it won’t be a scam. All will be fine, try not to worry yourself.

I sent it via email, thats why I feel a bit on edge.no other bank has ever asked me to send anything via email hence the anomaly of it. Thank you for the reassurance
