Hi, I tried to pay using my monzo card to get some US dollars. I typed my pin in and can see on the app that the money has been taken. However the woman told me the payment was not authorised and gave me a receipt showing letters where there should be numbers for the authorisation code. How long will it take for the money to return to my account?! !
I would of expected the receipt to say declined. The best thing to do would be to contact CoOps in app to see if the transaction went through.
Please contact us in app so we can look into this for you.
That sure doesn’t look like a decline slip…
Auth codes can be non-numeric. I got one the other day, and it’s perfectly valid.
Looks to me like that transaction was approved.
Like has been said, auth codes don’t need to be numeric.
That is not a decline slip to me it looks like it is an authorised transaction
I’m sure that that is an authorised transaction. If it had been declined or cancelled it would have said so.
You’ll need to contact Monzo in app, or as a long shot, and only if you want to, try returning to the place and persuade them to hand over the USD.
Wow! I can’t believe that shop keeper actually thought that was true! What a load of nonsense. He probably lines his own pockets that way …
Thankfully for you that should be covered by a chargeback, though…
The more I look at this the more fishy it seems. Were they selling you dollars cash? How was the transaction coded? If they were selling you cash as a goods and services transaction that’s also forbidden.
The entire situation seems incredibly suspicious. Talk to Monzo and tell them all the circumstances. At the least this is a chargeback case if it gets presented (is it posted or pending?) but frankly it feels like it is beyond just a chargeback and may result in further action.
P.S. are you willing to post more of the receipt including the lines above what you showed that should actually say if it’s approved or not…
@Sbegum I think we are all curious, could you please come back with the rest of the receipt (with any confidential information redacted)? It should clearly show the transaction was authorised above the part you posted.
