I fell for a scam on Facebook that was posing as my local bus company offering cheap travelcards. I filled in all my card details, including the expiry date and 3 numbers on the back. It just looked totally authentic, even the URL and everything. Once I pressed submit, I got a little pop up on the webpage saying something about a blacklist. Didnt manage to get a screenshot. Thats when i googled it and realised it was a scam, and immediately froze my Monzo card.
I cant seem to get through to any customer support at Monzo. On the phone, none of the options match my needs, and on the app it only offers help if you wish to query a specific transaction. But thankfully no payment has actually taken place since I froze the card. So Im not sure how else to talk to Monzo. I also ordered a new card, and the app says it will have the same exact details as the hacked one…Surely i should be getting a new card number? Otherwise it can just get hacked again when I activate the new one, right?
Regarding your card, you’ll probably want to report it as “Theft or fraud” in the Order new card section of the app. This should get you new card details.
To do this: Home → Card → Scroll down → Order new card → Theft or fraud.
If no money has been taken, then as long as you keep your card frozen until you get a new card with new card details, you should be fine, and there’s no need to reach out to Monzo CS.
However, if you’d still like to talk to someone, use this link.
Just remember that Monzo support for non-urgent enquires is only open from 7am - 8pm Mon - Sun. Monzo support is available 24/7 for urgent support.
I don’t think any Monzo card will come with the same details. But if you select the fraud reason for replacement then it doesn’t auto-update those details anywhere.
