Google event September 30th - Pixel 5

Leaving aside my feelings about his reviewing style, pleased to see that it looks pretty decent. Watched through slightly gritted fingers given I had already pre-ordered last night

Thanks

Mine is only arriving tomorrow, I think you need the IMEI to claim?

Yes - you need;

  • Order date
  • Retailer
  • Product details and IMEI number
  • Personal details
  • Proof of purchase

EDIT: I ordered on the 02-Oct, and my order confirmation states delivered by 27-Oct - I hope that’s a very-worst-case date and it arrives sooner. Those ‘while stocks last’ QC’s will be flying off the shelves!

Where did you order from?

Lots of places sold out on the pixel phone, I’m also hoping there’s enough QCs to go around, although they’ll likely give an alternative , but that could be significantly ‘worse’ or potentially better.

Additionally the offer is available in another 2 or 3 countries across Europe so I’m going to be getting the claim in as soon as possible.

I ordered from Google Store personally

My phone got delivered to home while I’ve been out, but the IMEI was on the order page as the “Serial Number”

Ordered direct from the Google Store.

Was swinging between the colours and then decided on Black. After I ordered, the Sorta Sage went out-of-stock, then the black went out-of-stock 3 days later!

Makes you wonder if the amount of available QC’s is known and the ordering of Pixel 5’s, while the offer is still open, is being throttled to match the QC availability.

I’d also like to get my QC :headphones: claim in pretty sharpish too :crossed_fingers: - the only stumbling block is the IMEI number. I’ve noticed that previous Google Store orders have serial numbers entered into the order once specific handsets are allocated prior to shipping which reflect the IMEI so I’ll keep on watching the order like a hawk.

I’d say it’s too hard to throttle the stock at 3rd party sites , I just hope this 3rd party fulfilment company doesn’t drag it out for the full 60 days or so whilst they try source some more QCs.

Did you order anything else with your phone, I saw some comments saying stock issues with other products were causing Google to delay shipping on the 5 to send it all together.

Edit:

In the event of unforeseen circumstances or exhaustion of Reward stocks, the Administrator reserves the right to substitute the Reward with an alternative reward of equal or greater value for the Reward.

I purposely ordered only the phone for this reason. I’ve had bundle orders delay shipments in the past so I decided not to gamble this time. I’ll be ordering the other stuff later once I’ve got my 10% credit applied to my Google 1 account.

The reviews are out;

Looking forward to the good battery life, hopefully the speakers aren’t too much of a disappointment , I sometimes play music loud from them if I don’t have a speaker around.

Fairly pleased with that

Dieter always gives things a fair outing, which is a bit more worrying when you’re invested in an option

I loved my Nexus 5, so always nice to see some love from others and parallels drawn to my new phone

Mines just arrived :tada:

Has two IMEI numbers on the box , hopefully that means you can run an eSim and physical side by side ?

Edit: headphone claim was validated in less than 10 minutes .

Hmmmm!

I put mine in yesterday morning, and they’ve not done mine yet

Got mine… battery life is great… speakers… fine, although I wouldn’t call them hifi… for that I have a DAC and headphones anyway.

It’s tiny compared to my pixel 2 XL even though the screen is the same size. Lack of bezels plus it’s a lot lighter.

Put the Bose claim in… nothing yet but it did say 2 working days for validation so not worried.

Maybe it couldn’t automatically extract proof of purchase from your upload, which is a bit strange considering they would start training the system with Google ones I’d imagine, I used a screenshot so .PNG maybe that made a difference.

My validation emails went to spam in Gmail so maybe check there , I also got a text though.

The URL pixel-offers.com looks so dodgy ironically.

It’s just a tiny bit bigger than my pixel 3 , and it feels pretty light in my hand even though it’s a tad heavier, I guess the aluminium back over glass does that.

Thing is, it looked like it had automagically trimmed down my screenshot as it had shrunk a bit to relevant details

Did enjoy Gmail putting a Google email into spam!

Liking the phone thus far. The super matt look and feel with the shipping screen protector on I will hate to lose when I peel it off

Really bro? In a Google thread?

Kidding of course. Gotta keep the Apple/Google rivalry alive!

Now I’ll scurry off back to the iPhone thread whilst I try to figure out which phone I’m gonna get.

Glad you’re liking the pixel!

It’s the 3rd party supplier who are using mailgun to send out the emails

But I’m sure they could have got Google to throw in email in the deal

Wasn’t aware that Apple had swept that term from under me!

They were a complete shambles of a business still when I first used it
