Only thing Iām concerned about is that they havenāt (yet) detailed what will happen for people like me who have months or years left on their PS Plus subscription and want to subscribe to a tier other than Essential.
Can we pay the difference? Do we have to forfeit the months we have pre-bought (unlikely, but I wouldnāt rule it out with Sony)?
Iām no expert gamer but I thinks itās way over priced.
There is the benefit of cloud gaming for financial purposes, but is everyoneās broadband connection going to be up to scratch for this? Especially online gaming without local storage, does this require more bandwidth?
We have a fair speed (350/35) with VM so itās no bother for us.
Having checking the differences again in probably just going to remain on Essential unless thereās some amazing offer to upgrade or they roll out 50% discounts as they do Plus now and then.
Not sure id wanna go through all the OG games through PlayStation history, theyāve not even labelled what they are yet either so could be absolute tripe.
Seems that ps plus has a much better brand than ps now and adding in a half way house on ps now light to get people the try. If they get t1 games in from day 1 like Xbox will be more interesting. Basically committed to nothing on that front at the moment. Playing old stuff is fun but not £50 a year fun.
Iāve never been a huge fan of the idea of Playstation Plus - the idea of paying for in-game content that PC users donāt need to is a bit grim.
Currently still on that Elden Ring hype and thereās aspects of the game I canāt really use unless I was to sign up. Was tempted to purchase the year membership and Flex-ing it but was still on the fence.
Digesting this recent update to see if it sways me
I kind of agree but I signed up for a very different reason.
I signed up to Plus because Oddworld: Soulstorm was the free game that month. It cost me ~Ā£30 for a years membership with all the benefits, whereas to buy the game it was ~Ā£50. It was a no-brainer for me.
I must admit i probably dont use my ps5 as much as i should , i got it as a treat during the pandemic and play it at the weekend for a few hrs i have the plus and now subscriptions and since then have really found no need to buy a full priced game , so it will be interesting to see what tier i end up in the new thing and what that brings
Itās all down to the mad way the PlayStation stores data on the disk. Itās all heavily super-optimised to be as fast as possible - and sometimes it has to spend some time moving other games around on the disk to be able to patch the update into the game thatās being updated.
Iām not explaining it very well. Itās almost as if I barely understand it.
Extremely simply put, your disk might be arranged like this:
I think itās more how they are applying the differential patches to textures etc. itās always been bad on PlayStation and Sony really doesnāt have much inclination to improve it it appears.
