If that single item was £180, yes, as you’ve purchased the item from the merchant. The repayments are handled separately by monzo. They foot the bill and you pay them back.
I’ve just checked my credit file, and my Flex is reported as a “Credit Card” (at least it does under TransUnion, will check Experian once that comes through).
I wonder if OP has Flex Build and if that is reported differently to standard Flex (aka Flex Purchase).
It should be noted that I use CheckMyFile, not ClearScore.
So ClearScore use Equifax, but according to CheckMyFile, Monzo is not reporting my Flex card to Equifax. Both my Joint and Personal Current Accounts are, but not Flex.
Interesting. OP is using ClearScore and apparently has it (as a BNPL product). I’ve questioned it via in-app chat.
Back to OP’s point though, I still think it could be part of Flex Build, or maybe Equifax is reporting it as a BNPL (for those that have it on their Equifax file).
Anyone else able to check and confirm (Either CreditScore or Equifax direct are the only current free options apparently)?
Mine doesn’t mention my Flex account either, but does include my Monzo accounts.
Hi folks. Thanks for raising this - I’m looking into it with Clearscore.
We report both Flex Build and Flex Purchase as a credit card to Transunion and Experian, but we don’t currently report Flex to Equifax (which is what Clearscore use).
It’s not yet clear why Clearscore are presenting Flex transactions as BNPL. The screen suggests they’re using data from accounts linked with Open Banking, rather than credit reports.
FYI - “Credit cards” are a sub-segment of “running credit accounts”, so Flex may be shown as this on some credit report provider sites.
Thanks Tom. This makes sense now.
I forgot you could link your account via OpenBanking to ClearScore (not used them in over a year).
Is there a reason why you report Current Accounts to all 3, but don’t report Flex to Equifax?
Not really to be honest. It’s a legacy hangover from when we launched Flex, but it’s on our list to start reporting Flex to Equifax early next year
No, it’s the full flex purchase account with a 6k limit.
I’ve got an AMEX but not everywhere accepts it and after an awful experience with some other banks rewards cards and their crappy apps I decided to opt for flex as it’s all under the same app.
Rewards cards are ok but the vast majority it’s only a few pounds a month for more hassle and sloppy app experiences so I closed them down and just have the two plus a 0% for 2 years towards some house improvements this year.
