Does cancelling plus make you order a new card if you have a coral one?

Hi,

I do personally really like Monzo as a spending money bank account (I use Nationwide for Bills and keeping most of my PIP).

I subscribed to Monzo Plus in December, and I am aware that there’s a cancellation fee of £5. However, will cancelling also cancel the Hot Coral Card? Sorry for the silly question, the app states my query Weirdly.

If you haven’t ordered a holo card, then I think your old hot coral card should just carry on working.

If you’re still uncertain ask in the app (start a new chat).

No, you’ll be fine (I’ve done it).

If you’d ordered the holo card, cancelling Plus would cancel that and order you a new hot coral.

Yeah, that sounds about right. The app words it a little strangely to make you not unsubscribe.

I didn’t see the point keeping the subscription because it actually just isn’t worth what I paid when I hardly use the features.

Thanks though. I’ll still ask Monzo support just to be sure as I don’t want my current debit cancelled.

No I’ve just cancelled Plus. And it let me keep my yellow card which I was happy about.

Last summer Monzo did a promo of neon cards, one of which was yellow

Oh yeah, I remember that. I hadn’t referred anyone sadly.

I’ll wait until the 3 month period runs out and then cancel.

If you cancel you get a £5 refund also so to cancel on the day costs £5 but instantly refunds £5. That’s what happened for me anyway

Yeah I just cancelled the service and my debit card was not frozen because it was a hot coral card.

Also got a £3.93 refund plus my interest rate for February of 14p. So in total I got £4.07 back.

The refund is calculated on the days of the month until your next renewal.

Strictly speaking no. At least in my experience. But you will be left with a banner telling you to order a new a new card each time

So if you cancel and ignore the banner you can just use the holo card indefinitely?

In my case yes but I would say this is likely not intended behaviour so the advice you gave is likely more beneficial.
