Core App: Better payments

Joint account only and I see this.

Are we suggesting that joint and business accounts share the same and separate base to personal accounts and perhaps explaining why the lack of parity occurs?

Just asking for a friend.

I see it more as a “switch” between having a single account (which is a personal account by definition) and multiple accounts, as compared to a separate base, but that’s just my feeling

It’s the other way around. NatWest is operating ATMs for Tesco with their branding. But it is just the NatWest ATM.

I assumed that this was just a screen built initially to transfer money between Monzo accounts. It might have use beyond that, but I think it’s just been released initially for that purpose, hence why only folk with multiple accounts have it.

As I understand it, the app is the app: there aren’t different “bases”.

You’ll have a joint and personal account. Unless something has changed recently, you can’t have a Monzo joint account without having a personal one.

whilst i wouldnt go as far as saying it would be a base it could be a simple flow related differrence where a check is done if you multiple accounts you get one screen or if you have only a current account you get the other.

similar to how other checks are done for monzo plus views etc.

Fair point. I often forget I have a personal account as I only have it to get the joint account.

Hi @kavi and @robinb

What really ruins the flow of the bill splits screen is that when you accept a split it takes you back to the Home Screen.

I’m sure that a lot of people might leave bill splits for a few days or a week at the end of the month, to then accept a dozen all at once. It would be much more helpful if you stayed on the bill splits screen after accepting one.

Hope you can consider this :crossed_fingers:

“Get paid more easily” seems really clunky to me…
Can’t it just be “Get paid easily”?

Other than that, looks good! Does the invite to Monzo advert need to be the top option though?

Sorry, forgot to mention we’re still figuring out final copy with the writers so the words are tbc :pray:t5:

Damn, I should have known Ariel was a socialist. :joy:

Request from me, merge payees in iOS, please!

I like these.

It would also be nice/useful to see any scheduled payments, unsettled bill splits, and tabs you might have with a person when looking at their profile screen.

@kavi any plans to allow editing of the payee profile picture?

yep that’s coming in a future update hopefully. we’ve spec’d it out, just need to build it. it wasn’t as high priority as some of the other more useful things though :+1:t5:

This gets asked about fairly often, but non-card-based withdrawals at an ATM isn’t a thing you can generally “just do” right now - the banks that offer it do so only through their own ATMs. Tesco Bank likely offer it as a legacy of starting as a Tesco & RBS joint venture which at least used to run on NatWest’s banking platform - I’m not saying it’s not a service that NatWest wouldn’t be willing to offer (at their ATMs) to other banks, but if it is its likely to be substantial work if they do.

Mastercard do have two up-and-coming features which may fill this need in the not too distant future though:

  • Contactless at ATMs - this supports cash withdrawals using Apple or Google Pay. It should be supported at every new ATM which takes Mastercard and offers contactless, and at some point all ATMs with contactless support will be required to support it for Matercard cards.
  • Cardless ATMs - In this case typically you press a button on the ATM screen and either scan a QR code with your phone or enter a single use code using the ATM’s keypad. I’m not aware of any deployment of this in Europe but theoretically it could move faster because it only requires a software update, not hardware.

Am the only one who has an issue with the use of “Who’d” ?

I get it. It’s concise, it saves space, but changes to that affect just look keep looking sillier the more they’re made, in my opinion.

This one is more off putting to me than Frauded, not that I could explain why. Just how it makes me feel when I read it, I guess.

Yeah looks really good! agree with this point though, cut the white space down a little bit around the pay and request please.

Also would like some clarity around the default reference? Will we still be able to select from the dropdown to change this? and also delete from this suggested list?

the way the default reference will work – at least in the first version – is that it will be pre-populated in the reference field when you go to make a payment to that particular bank account. that’s if you have set a default reference (it’s optional).

the other behaviour remains the same for now; there is still a list of previous references that you have used for past payments to the account which you are able to select from (but not delete yet). your default reference will get added to that list as soon as you make a payment using it.
