I really like the idea. It’s the kind of thing which has been around through third parties but requires linking your account which I, and many others, wouldn’t not feel comfortable doing. Really nice to have it directly from your bank. This is the kind of smart and customisable feature that makes the whole concept of mojo so great.
It would be good to be able to hide the coin jar transactions on your feed, I.e be able to disable this from showing on your transaction list every time spare change is moved over. This would help me personally with saving as I would almost forget about the money being moved but also it is a bit annoying having the transaction show every single time you buy something. Good feature though
I like this idea.
Money is gradually siphoned out of my current account into Chip, Oval and MoneyBox. They’re frequent, small amounts that I don’t notice. …and they’re building up nicely.
It would be great to have a multiplier option whereby we could choose to multiply each coin jar addition by x
As a deterrent to dipping in to the coin jar how about the act of withdrawing from it is like breaking your piggy bank? All the money falls back into your main account and you have to create a new coin jar and start over.
Loving coin jar great feature, my only niggle would for each deposit to not appear in the feed looks messy (my opinion) , keep up the great work
Like others, I would like it if I could choose to hide the Coin Jar notification from my feed whenever an amount is paid into it automatically.
I think I may be slightly obsessed
Filled the car up yesterday - pump stopped at £37.91 but I forced a few more drops out of it and got it to £38.02! meaning 98p to the Coin Jar - I may need help!
Haha I know the feeling!
Agree with all the comments on how it spams my feed, and that a daily total that can be expanded would be a logical next step for it.
This is easily the best new feature and probably second only to the instant updates, I absolutely love it, over a tenner in there already, and makes a useful tool to help sell Monzo to the uninitiated.
I have now deleted Moneybox, I never got round to using it because of this update, but it may be worth looking into their model as an option too, where the money rounded up was directly invested in something (shares etc), not for me but others might enjoy this sort of thing.
Great idea, would be nice to customize the round up amount, eg next £5 etc
Love it! So easy to setup. It would be great if anything over 50p of the pound gets round up. For example, a coffee is £4.55 and 45p gets rounded up and not a coffee at £4.05 and 95p gets rounded up
I love the feature and set it up right away.
- I think that ‘Coin Jar’ should be a Money Pot you can set up, rather than a MP you create and name yourself. My husband swore blind he didn’t have the feature until I showed him how to do it. Perhaps that could be added in?
- I agree with comments about rounding up the transactions - a summary would be useful instead of lots of little transactions. I went to Pret, Sainsbury’s then a coffee shop and had 6 notifications - freaked me out a bit!
- Would like to be able temporarily turn off - at the end of the month can see me transferring things back which might mean I transfer more money back rather than save the £2-3 by turning off…
Hope this is helpful!
Tremendous dedication to your savings goals, Bob!
I would love if it looked like this rather than having a Coin Jar item for pretty much every transaction
Also, I’m not sure it works with Scheduled Payments at the moment (which actually is maybe not a bad thing)
Only standard card transactions. It doesn’t work for GooglePay as far as I can tell either
What he says!
It does work for me using Google Pay (NFC Phone transaction, don’t know about other GPay transations)
Not sure if it’s already been suggested but I’d like it if I could hide the amount that’s in my coin jar so it would
be a surprise when I open it at a later date.
I added coin jar as soon as I saw it… A simple but creative idea… I agree with others re clogging the feed with entries… but I’m sure they’ll be further fine tuning…
Love it!!
