Just to be clear, when I said I might give it a go, I didn’t mean moving my main account over to them! I’m not a total masochist!
You should try First Direct.
Thanks - They have been on my list for ages, but for some reason they have never grabbed me quite enough to join - as they don’t see to have a killer offer i.e cashback or rewards (e.g club Lloyds), but I know they get good reviews, so I might try them!
Worse than the Co-Op? Surely not
Co-op has an app. They don’t care about customers and I’ll get off my face drunk the day they get bought up, but they have an app.
Cater Allen is backwards but if I had to choose between only ever being allowed to bank with them vs having to have my main account at Co-Op but having as many other accounts as I want, I’d pick Cater Allen any day.
Sadly you’ve just missed a £175 switching bonus. They do seem like a pretty solid and well polished operation though.
Also available in Euro flavour, the front of both is identical so this introduces an element of roulette when on holiday. So long, Fineco cards
Do you have to open a separate account for the Euro account?
Also, they send free nectarines now? Some would be more pleased than with the free sausage rolls on Monzo!
Sadly not via this route entirely as they have a UK BIN so get charged UK fees in EU ATMs. £7 in the Czech Republic. For purchases, yes, for ATMs it’s Bankera.
Yes, separate opening via the same long-winded online form, and the same 1/4” of paperwork in the post. No extra credit searches, but I did get an abrupt email asking why I wanted it. I couldn’t find the IBAN details anywhere, but you can generate your own at the bottom of this page
It’s not a nectarine lol.
You’re right, I’m an idiot. Meant to say clementine.
Cater Allen is certainly not the best option of travelling in Europe.
I’ve got 0% FX credit cards, and HSBC global money that I usually use - would Cater Allen be ok for buying the odd coffee etc if my other cards burst into flames?
Yes but imagine the thrill of being in a foreign country where you might not speak the language, being told the card didn’t work and you can’t check the app to see why
Surely all foreigners speak English
Onlee in zee movees
What I’ve been looking for is some fancy card machine that thinks ‘Aha. Lithuanian card. I will respond in Lithuanian’
Does anyone know if I need to make a Chip & Pin transaction before I can use my card online? I need a Visa card for Airtime Rewards and CA is the only one…
Not heard of that being a thing, only for contactless. Unless CA have any other strange requirements but I doubt it.
