If somewhere doesn’t take cash they don’t get my business…. Because I don’t carry cash
This is valid, but I wouldn’t go get cash to shop there either.
If the baker on the market can take card payments with no minimum spend while freezing his nuts off in the cold anyone can!
I take umbrage to places that instigate a minimum spend too. If they force me to spend a certain amount then I won’t spend anything. There’s a guy that sells samosas outside my work, he started the whole minimum payment thing and now I don’t bother with him anymore (although he was on thin ice anyway as the samosas weren’t nice enough for me to listen to his unhinged ramblings about how he had broken bread with sheikhs etc. Okay mate… ) I suspect though he wants cash or at least some portion of cash so he can fiddle the tax…
Cash is not king.
I too don’t shop there if they force cash only.
Im not going far out of my way to find a working cash machine, that also sometimes charges, to withdraw more than I need, to then get complained at because they stuggle to give change with notes.
If it’s expensive to process card payments, you’re with the wrong card processing company
The little town I live in has 3 cash machines and last time I tried to get cash out last year for something all 3 of them were out of order, one of them being a post office. We don’t have a single bank anymore, used to have 4 or 5. The old RBS building has been boarded up for years, must be around 150 years old, at least.
Exactly the same here. The auction house near me has one of those cheesy “support cash, cash only” signs that’s several paragraphs long.
When I win anything online, and go to collect and pay, they end up allowing me to bank transfer instead for this reason. I know im not the only one, so I wonder how much longer they’ll keep their massive cash only sign up
What’s that?
My local coffee shop has just done the complete opposite and gone card only after being broken into 3 times in the span of 2 months last year!
I was surprised at how many people were complaining about them not accepting cash saying they “have to, its legal tender”
Were they trying to pay with stamps?
Ration books
Legal tender crazy is a whole different type of crazy. At least they’re usually quick to identify themselves.
I don’t mind using cash at all. Think from my younger days on nights out I only took cash so I didn’t overspend and I still stick to cash when abroad.
Any change / coins I get here I give to my 2 year old daughter and she loves putting it into her wee tin she has.
This was me, but I would always lose the money or give it away for some bizarre reason - today’s version is create a virtual card connected to a pot and add it to Apple Pay
I’ve just jumped on the Perks bandwagon and regretted ordering the Bold Coral card. Card quality feels so much crapper than the matte embossed card for free accounts.
Nobody gets embossed cards anymore. Standard card has printed numbers on the back.
That’s the point, my current embossed card is valid until 2028. Waste of resources to have the bold coral card issued.
You could have picked no, not sure what the problem is?
The problem is I tapped yes too quickly and the card has already been sent off. I might just not activate and keep using my current one.
Then do that, you’ll be fine.
I love these “I did a thing and want someone else to blame for it”.
You had the option to decline it, but as noted in your other replies you tapped yes for, apparently no reason.
As explained, you don’t need to activate it, though you may receive a prompt asking you to do so.
Also, if you ever did lose your current you’ll automatically have a replacement
Nah, I meant complain about the quality of cards from Monzo these days rather than to look for someone to blame for it. Thanks for the assumption.
