I had an in-app notification in the prepaid app for the duration of the outage.
Hmm… does that mean one has to open the app to see there’s an issue during the ‘event’, rather than receiving a more general iOS (in my case) notification alerting the user to the risk? If so, that’s a missed opportunity. I’m sure during previous similar events I’ve had an iOS notification without going to the app first.

Ok, I’ll give Monzo the benefit of the doubt if others got them.
You will get a notification in the app which (if tapped) will take you to the status page for more info. By subscribing to the status page you will also receive these status updates via text message, again with links to the status page for more info.
A push notification would be the most elegant solution.
