Can I switch to Monzo without closing down current account?

Is it possible for me to undergo the Monzo current account switch without closing down my current HSBC account I am switching from? Have had no response in app chat

Unfortunately not, there are many issues with partial switches and thus it is no longer an option.

Feel free to move your Direct Debits etc manually though

An alternative might be to open a new HSBC account, and close the old one with a CASS switch

No, only the full switch is available now. Which involves closing down the account at the end.
