The old design was better. It was ahead of standard banking websites.
This new design - particularly where single and joint accounts are concerned - creates confusion. I would argue it is now behind other banking apps.
This change speaks volumes about Monzo massaging egos of sample groups and living in an echo chamber.
I don’t like the lack of visibility on immediate spending.
I don’t like how the main card accounts are shuffled randomly into pots - and then back to the top - and then shuffled in again.
I don’t like how both (single and joint) accounts are visible on one screen - it’s potentially going to lead to mismanagement of funds.
I have a lot of pots and this new design is a mess.
I have tried so hard to accept this change and it just sucks. Probably leaving Monzo and going back to Starling - where they tend not to constantly tinker with the front end.
Hey Simon, thanks for addressing user’s concerns! I do not dislike the current design, as swapping between tabs even if less intuitive (you never know in advance where you are going to land at first) increases somehow the functionalities. Nonetheless removing the graph looks like a major pitfall, as it reduces one of the quickest way to monitor the bank account. What about putting it back in a new swappable tab? And since there is a tab only for the graph, what about adding also the possibility of dividing graph in subgraphs for expense category or pods? This I think would be a great tool for control maniacs as myself.
Thanks!
I am finding the new app quite difficult to navigate from a user interaction perspective, especially between cards and pots. I found it much more user friendly to have to swop between cards in the last app and then pots sat within each of these cards, the scroll bar at the top with all the different pots and cards next to each other is quite confusing to keep track of which pots and which accounts you are looking at, especially if you have the same pot names across your multiple cards.
Also now that all the accounts and pots have the same look and feel, its difficult to immediately identify which account/pot you are looking at. In the old app my primary account had a dark background where as my joint one had a white background, so I could tell immediately which account I was looking at without having to search for a name or card colour/image.
Another issue I am finding is if I get a notification pop up for one card that says its declined when I click the notification to go view that account directly, it automatically takes me to my primary card/account, and I can’t tell at first glance which account I am looking at, and then I get frustrated as I don’t understand why my card is being declined because I can see there is money in it, however its showing me the wrong account, and I can’t see that the card has insufficient funds. In the old app when a notification pop up for a specific card if you clicked it it would directly take you to the associated account.
Also from a user interaction point of view if you are in the account view and can see full details of an account and then the other cards across the top, you would expect if you click the home button at the bottom left it would take you to your home overview screen of all your accounts. Whereas the current action of needed to tap your profile picture is off putting as you would assume that would take you to your account setting and personal details, not to a home/dashboard view of all your accounts.
Sorry about the long paragraphs, I hope my feedback is helpful!
I agree! The new design is bad compared to the only one. It’s so hard to find stuff and takes 3x of my time. I wish they would stick to the old one. The old design was a huge advantage against the other bank apps due to its simplicity.
I know it’s been said in here already, but hey another voice…
The only thing that I don’t like about the new app - is the weird settings and account management system.
Some stuff is under your profile
Some stuff is tucked away under the cog button
Some stuff you have to press settings again.
Other stuff you manage directly under each “manage card” option.
Some things make sense, but some are just really counter intuitive.
I think the limitation there was having to plug in the existing screens with no changes. Longer term, I’m hoping that lot gets reorganised in a similar manner.
I absolutely detest the new design, what was wrong with the old one?
I got monzo because it was easy to navigate, you could see everything you want at a touch of a button, now you have to search everywhere for what you want, it just doesn’t make sense.
If it stays like this I will probably transfer my money & close my monzo.
I actually used to like using my monzo, I could see everything clearly, now its a HD ame of hide & seek to work out where things are.
Maybe monzo should listen to its customers, send out a survey to all users & see what they’re feedback is, then actually listen & do something about it!!!
I’m struggling to use it all, it just doesn’t make sense, there should be buttons for everything but there’s not, jyst found out today if you click on the bar under your account balance it gives you the monthly summary, that’s taken me weeks to find!

You can also use the pie chart icon to do the same thing; they both take you to the same place.
