❌ Bring back the old design!

Really just +1 on getting some old stuff back or at least some options since I gather this is the place.

If there was an option to get right of the card thing, maybe bring back the graph in some form and put pots back on their own page I think I could live with the new design. Also if we could maybe get the app running as smoothly and get it back to a smaller footprint then I’d be onboard.

Does anyone know who is providing the type of service and app that the old design was so good? I may have to go browsing.

The new design concentrated on form over function.
Whoooo look. You can slide through all of the accounts and pots! Whee!
Instead of a page with account transactions and another with a very convenient overview of all of your pots, and easy access to the details of each.
Good separation of accounts with simple switching between them.
:+1:

Does the vertical list not do this?

It does

The guy has said similar in other topics so I think he is just spamming around the place.

Originally he hated the whole app and it was terrible etc but when questioned it boils down to an oversight in not seeing the vertical list :man_shrugging:

The vertical list doesn’t have the good separation between different accounts, it’s all in one list.

May I suggest that you don’t post on a public discussion forum if you don’t want comments

At first I did not like it… a day later and its much quicker and more intuitive IMO

The new app is not at all user friendly compared to the old app.

I can’t be that specific as I have already forgotten the exact format of the old app but know this new version makes little to no sense to me.

The old version had a good flow. The pots were out of the way yet easy to access.
This new version doesn’t allow me to focus solely on the main account. I get all tangled up in the information.

A change back would be amazing. My fingers are crossed!

Not sure why you replied to me but since I’m here I’d like to save your fingers some unnecessary strain… Monzo have confirmed that the old design is not going to be coming back.

Sorry to disappoint but I’m sure you’ll get used to it over time - as have most of us on here who were early testers

Ok thanks for the info

Unlike most people on here, it seems, Monzo is my only British bank. I’m dual Aussie/British and I’ve only just moved back from Australia after 8 years so my mortgage / savings / credit card are all with Australian banks (or the Aussie branch of internationals…). Interestingly I’ve found all Australian banking apps to be far superior (intuitive design, clean, user-driven functionality) to British ones so far -

Until I came across Monzo in December 2018. Bear in mind I grew up here so I’m super familiar with traditional high street banks and see friends and family using their apps all the time. My friend had opened a Monzo account, though, and I’d had a look. Monzo appealed to me due to its simplicity and super intuitive app design (even my Dad could use it).

I really don’t find the new design intuitive at all, though I appreciate that a reversal to the old UI isn’t going to happen. I agree with other posters that it actually looks like a step back rather than a step forward.

The following would be my key dislikes:

  1. It’s too white - it’s difficult on the eyes
  2. The opening screen is really messy. Having to drag down the spending totals and swipe through pots doesn’t feel clean. Swiping through pots I can appreciate but may I suggest keeping it to that on one page with the option to tap which one you want to open and review?
  3. The three menu options on the bottom bar are not intuitive at all. The previous five options were much more useful and accessible.

If any developers do read this, I’d recommend having a look at the ING Australia and Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CommBank) apps. I’ve attached screenshots of the ING app because I don’t have any cash in there at the moment. You’ll see there’s the option to swipe between accounts on the spending page or you can select the account you want to look at/action from a side menu. Both of these apps have approached multiple account views in different ways but both are much, much better than the new Monzo layout.

Hope the feedback is constructive!

Sorry, but I comletely disagree about those screenshots you posted being better than the new look Monzo. My eyes are all over the place there trying to find ther actual useful information, The pay button seems to be the most important thing on the page, but no idea what that does, does it pay money into that account? Then there’s the acres of space between some random text code and an amount, only getting 3 transactions on the screen at once e.t.c.

Not a fan one bit of that app’s design.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong on his Monzo list and the ING app is likely better in his eyes because he is used to it.

I bet he went digging around, clicking things and wondering what stuff did when he first started with ING. It’s perfectly natural.

Like all new things there is a bit of a learning curve so I’m sure he will get used to the new Monzo design soon

Id like to reiterate that not everybody who doesnt like it just needs to get used to it. I’m used to it and still think its a step backwards for reasons outlined several times, but the constant response to anybody with constructive feedback seems to be “it takes time to adapt, you’ll see”

The old design is never coming back and now I am used to the new design I prefer it much more. I really like the vertical list of account and pots. What I would like is to be able to hide pots or move them. And pot sortation is coming. When this launches it might offer some improvements for those with lots of pots who don’t like the new design.

Drag all the way down and you get a list - no more swiping thru pots

PS if you’re in Oz have you had a look at Up?
