Benefits and CASS

Help!
I used the CASS service and switch was complete 2 weeks ago. I have checked today and my child benefit payment has not been processed, Monzo are saying nothing showing as pending, DWP are saying payment went through…not to me!
Any suggestions?

If you used CASS, then the payment should arrive soon.

CASS will notify all Direct Debit providers of the new details, but they won’t be able to notify anyone who sends you money until they attempt to send one. It’s then on that person/company to update your details. Your old bank will forward your payments on to your Monzo account, but this is time limited (usually around 2 years) any any forwarding may take a few days.

If you didn’t inform the child benefit people of your new account details yourself, the payment was sent to your old account, and so you will need to wait for your old bank to forward on the payment. I would update your bank details with anyone who sends you money (including child benefit) manually, just to be safe.

It’s a minimum of three years, and any payments are forwarded in a matter of seconds, not a few days!

I stand corrected on the minimum. But the payments are usually pretty instant, but not always (speaking from experience)

DWP benefits don’t automatically carry across and you need to update your bank details with the DWP and other departments.

There’s a whole bunch of places that don’t automatically update their details.

Anything that’s important (like your benefits) it’s worth manually checking they have your new account details.
