Balance in CSV export

If you export your transactions as a PDF, you get the account balance next to each transaction, however you don’t get this if you export to CSV.

In my case, I have to file US taxes, which requires determining the maximum account balance over the year. This is hard to do from a PDF, but would be trivial in a CSV if I had a column with the balance.

These should be equivalent agreed but for your current task can you not just sum up the transactions?

Yes, I’ve summed them in this instance. It’s just not the most friendly way to do it.

I’d like this too! Having to add the balance manually is a faff.

Can we have a definitive answer from monzo on this? There was mention of it being added before the end of last year but have heard nothing of it since. It’s been on PDF exports since the beginning so why is it taking so long to add to the other export types?

Who mentioned it, Monzo staff?

It’s been requested for years. It’s really easy to do it yourself as I don’t see Monzo adding it anytime soon.

I don’t recall that, so if you have a link to it, that would be good.

Maybe there’s a deliberate intention to not supply information in the csv if it’s something which can easily be worked out. For instance, as well as a running balance, they could supply the exchange rate for foreign transactions, but they don’t.

I’ve looked everywhere but kind find it. It’s possible it was on the trello development board but that’s no longer accessible so there’s no way to check.
The balance column is the easiest way to make sure ins / outs add up correctly (my accountant uses this for a quick check) - A column calculated from the ins/outs doesn’t give you this assurance.

I honestly can’t understand why this isn’t there - it’s in PDF statements so why not export?

Found it

That’ll be a :soon: (any time in the near or distant future)

Progress! - well movement anyway Trello
