Babylon 5 was seminal late 90s / early naughties sci-fi. It is one of the best (if not the best) TV series*.
In another topic @Dunsford brough us this joyous news:
So a new topic is essential! Reflections on the previous series, correct opinions (like why Season 3 is the high point but 5 is a bit dodgy) and hopes for the future all welcome.
* no discussion shall be entered into on this point.
The world doesn’t need another production of Shakespeare, and yet we still get plenty every year. I’ve always found it weird that while we accept multiple stagings of a play, each one exploring different ways of approaching the text, we generally don’t do the same for film on TV, where where there is the one true original that must never be touched.
So, should it be remade? Why not. Is it the right thing to do? That depends on what the finished product is like, as much as anything else. Is it needed? See above.
Hell, if we didn’t have remakes, we wouldn’t have the TV series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
