This is how it’s showing for me:

Oh dear god. :joy:

I found the combined view annoying initially but have gradually got used to it. I find other things, like 4 upcoming direct debits listed individually at the top of my activity feed more frustrating.

Same with the combined pots listing. But ultimately you can sort them how you want and the summary shows the total pots value for personal and joint.

In the previous build upcoming outgoing payments were grouped together. I’m not sure why they’ve removed that feature.

It’s been a while since I used Summary. Out of interest, what feature/s in Summary haven’t yet made it over to Trends?

The simple and compact summary chart is perfect for a glanceable view about whether you are above or below your notional target for the month.

The trend graph, whilst providing more information, is takes up more space and is less useful as something to glance at. I can see value in having both, but not at the expense of simplicity.

Trend targets simply don’t seem to exist / work for joint accounts. Or at least, I need a completely separate spending target for my personal account verses my joint account. That currently is not possible from what I can tell. If it is, the UI is really convoluted and confusing. Again shunning simplicity in favour of unnecessary complexity.

I just want a spending target per account and a simple representation of how far along that I’ve spent. With summary, I have that. With trends… I don’t think that exists.

I don’t use a joint account so don’t have any input/thoughts on issues with how Trends works with joint accounts, but a glanceable “how far along” graphic does exist via the Spotlights (glanceable insights) on the new Home screen.

Its a bit confusing that Trends actually has two different “Left to Spend” values, which are calculated differently. One is in Trends/Balance and seems to be equal to Balance minus Upcoming. The other is in Trends/Target and seems to equal to Target (Budget) minus Spent. I think the Target version is equivalent to Summary’s Left to Spend?

Both versions of Trends Left to Spend are accessible as Home screen Spotlights, and the Target Spotlight uses a “how far along” graphic. You can choose to hide the Balance Left to Spend Spotlight if you don’t want to see it. You do currently need to swipe down to access the Spotlights, but lots of people have been asking for the ability to pin them, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that becomes an option.

As an aside, Monzo should probably give the two Trends Left to Spend versions different names to better differentiate them.

The left to spend in Trends varies between being wildly incorrect and just a bit different. I’ve seen it over £500 out because it started including bills from the next month… currently it’s reading about £100 less than the proper figure. Really bizarre because Monzo have all the numbers…

You can’t be serious… They merged them? No wonder I couldn’t work out how to see the joint account.

How does that even work? They’re separate accounts with separate budgets and reasons for existing.

I think they’re talking about how you no longer “swipe” between joint and personal on the “home page” and now they stack, separately.

But to your point - They also note they need to have seperate budgets for personal & joint, which I believe you can?

Trends (reporting, spending target):

  • You can filter accounts in Trends. Not sure where the ‘merging’ came from - they are only ‘merged’ when multiple accounts are chosen in the filter

  • By definition, you can also select a single account and it obviously won’t be merged with any other account

  • You can then select the categories you want to include/exclude in the spending target which is then reflected in the burn-down graph (this applies to a single-account or a multiple-account filter view)

Summary (reporting, budgeting):

  • This is the old way and allows you to set-up a budget for each :monzo: account you have separately and see the calculated ‘Left-to-spend’ balance for each account

A clever combination of the 2 allows you to have an account-specific budget with an account-specific ‘Left-to’spend’ indicator and a single/multiple breakdown of your Balance, Spending and current performance against a set Spending Target

Yes, I’m aware of the two trends graphics and that you can add them as ‘spotlights’.

Neither of them compare to the summary for quick, glanceable representation of the data in such a compact form as the summary progress chart.

That it is not possible to have separate targets (from what I can tell) for separate accounts is such a major design flaw I don’t know where to begin. It simply breaks Monzo for me.

Sounds like some of what you ask for exists, there’s a workaround for what doesn’t and Monzo might build it eventually?

To be honest, the beauty of Monzo was that I could set say ÂŁ800 as a target on one account and ÂŁ400 on another. If I wanted, I could break that down more by spending type but that complexity was optional.

Fiddling around with clever work arounds (if indeed it does get close to what I want) defeats the point of what made Monzo great for me.

I have way higher tech literacy than the vast majority of people. I want Monzo to make this stuff easy — which is did (does) — but seems to be moving away from.

So yeah, even if via some laborious work around it’s technically possible to achieve something vaguely similar, that misses the point.

Yes

I agree. Trends doesn’t do anything useful for me. I’m pretty tech- and finance-savvy and just can’t get my head around it.

I use only one of the spotlights (is that what they’re called?) in the new interface, to give me the total (account plus pots) balance for my current account.

I can’t have the balance for two accounts on spotlights though.

So whereas I used to be able to clearly see my account total balance for both accounts just by looking at the “card” (or just below it), now I have to mess about with a gadget making sure all the correct pots are selected to see just one balance.

Sounds like the sort of feedback the team would find useful and perhaps even take onboard for future iterations

I’ve made the point about balances several times on the appropriate threads.

Hoping they’ll fix it eventually - would be very simple to add this to the “cards” in the new interface.

Move the account number and overdraft limit down slightly and add “£xxx.xx including pots” in small text immediately below the main balance.

Edit - just realised as a result of going in to check this that my “balance” in the spotlight was wrong because I created a new pot and it wasn’t added to the accounts and pots included in the spotlight item. I shouldn’t need to have to mess about like this or start doing mental arithmetic just to know what I have overall in each account

Im also seeing this, its super ugly and I don’t understand the logic :face_vomiting:

I’ve also had a push notification, banner in the app and an email offering me a loan yesterday
