First thing I did when I realised you could disable spotlight

The widgets are great. I too would love to see the RAG bar incorporated somehow. Also +1 for pinned widgets. I also got the new pot screens today :tada:

Lil bug. Left to spend insight on joint account actually displays account balance (not including pots)

It seems accurate for me. My balance is correct and my left-to-spend is correct. At this point in the monthly cycle, all bills have been paid so the 2 values are often the same anyway, until the next cycle starts.

Still can’t trigger it

It sounds like this should be rolled out now so just incase I’ve broken something. I have access to the spotlight settings in layout settings so it looks like it’s enabled:

And it sounds like I should just be pulling down on my cards on the overview screen for it to appear?

I’ve tried pulling down everywhere but nothing happens

I’ve tried turning things off and on again (amongst the clearing of data and reinstalls) but nothing makes it appear.

I love an option to always have the insights there without the pull down as I find it helpful at a glance! ( obviously with the option to not have them there for those that don’t want them also !)
when tapping on my spending insight and tapping on a specific category it doesn’t load - whereas it works fine on the tab itself.

Have noticed this is no longer the case. I now see a X in the top left corner of the screen that appears when I tap a Spotlight.

A couple more observations on navigation…

  1. The style of button that appears in the top left hand corner of various screens (accessed from the Home screen) varies for no obvious reason. On some screens its a X (e.g. the screens that appear when you tap spotlight or a pot) whilst on other screens its a back arrow (e.g. the screens that appear when you tap the account card or tap ā€œsee allā€ on the activity widget, and possibly all other screens). Tapping X or tapping back arrow has the same effect of closing the screen and returning you to Home screen, so not obvious why different button styles are needed.
  2. In general, if I tap on a button in the app to take be to another within-app screen and then perform a back navigation gesture I get returned back to the app home screen. However If I go to Trends by tapping the navigation bar at the bottom of the app and then perfom a back navigation gesture I get taken out of the app (either to device home screen or to another app).

Not sure if you’ve got it or not - but (not particularly helpful) I’ve just had Spotlight disappear. No amount of swiping brought it back. All settings were correct and so I disabled & enabled & swiped - boom - they’re back.

There’s a ghost in this machine. Android machine in my case.

Nope, nothing seems to want to make it appear. Also on Android

Just installed Monzo on my iPad now and I get a little further. There’s a loading animation where I imagine the spotlights should be but after a second or two it stops and the cards move back into place :man_shrugging:

Worked out the problem. I’ve got some 174 pots and accounts that I’ve accumulated over the years which I include in my spending trends and I guess this is timing out the spotlights.

If I only use my active pots and accounts it works but then all my historical months spending are wrong. I think I’ll just have to live without spotlights

OMG.

Can we just check that’s not a typo?!

It’s not :grimacing:

I started on the joint account.

I like to be pretty granular with my money and they were never enough pots for me so each month of my priorities changed I’d archive and create new pots.

Then I realised they had given up with joint accounts as plus/premium started adding features to the solo pots so I moved everything over to my solo account and carried on.

I’m much more settled now but have a lot of legacy data

An example of why :monzo: can’t give up on Joint accounts. The result is SRDB. Severe Resulting Data Bloat. A bit like a SpaceX Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly, but in the banking environment.

Not just Android, iOS is still waiting for widgets

We’re adding separate balances for personal and joint pots very soon :soon:

Could you tell me more about the business total balance problem, and how it causes an issue with trends?

It is good that you are doing this, but I may be alone in feeling that there isn’t enough segregation between my personal and joint accounts in the new layout. I tend to either be in ā€œpersonal modeā€ or ā€œjoint modeā€ with my thinking and having everything lumped in together really throws me off.

I’m really impressed with this evolution and how much the team are listening and making changes based on the feedback.

I switched it on to start with, then gave up with it for a bit, but vertical pots, the new widgets at the top and the separate pot totals are big improvements.

It’s easy to go ā€œurgh I don’t like changeā€ but this is coming, so it’s much better to get involved and try to help make it better, which I think it is already and definitely will be with the pot totals.

One thing missing for me atm is the gesture to get back to the front page. If I’ve tapped into my account and I see the card carousel, for years I’ve been dragging down on the card to go back to the list view, that doesn’t seem to work anymore.

I agree, a small ā€œline breakā€ in the middle would make noticing which is which a lot easier.
