App Evolution (new look Monzo app): Feedback Megathread šŸ“£

Gotcha, yeh we know that Targets doesn’t make sense for everyone so I’ll chat with the team about whether we can make this work for left to spend as well

Great, thanks! Just switched over to the new layout and it seems the team has done a really great job so far - the bar is the only thing I’m missing from the old layout

I have categories excluded in Spending (and different ones in Targets). But I don’t think you can exclude any in Balance?

No, it’s set to the last working day of the month.

Thanks, I’ve asked the team who work on Trends to take a look

I seem to have spotlight in my layout settings now:

But struggling to work out how to get them to appear anywhere :grimacing:

When I tap on a Spotlight I go to a Trends view in which the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen is hidden/absent. Furthermore no other app navigation or close view buttons are visible on the screen. I can still go back to Home using a navigation gesture, but I wonder if the lack of navigation buttons is unintended?

This is a bit different to what happens when I tap on a pot from the home screen. When I do this, the app navigation bar at the bottom is also hidden/absent, but in this instance there is an X in the top left hand corner to close the view and go back to Home.

Am using Android (Pixel 6A)

Thanks @dylanslewis. :star:

Imagine there’s a fly on your Monzo card but you want to pull it into your recent activity

Yeah, that’s the gesture I’ve been trying the most but it’s not having it  I’ll just try again tomorrow.

Overview turned on in labs.

Swipe down on the home screen.

Yep, also tried cleaning caches and leaving overview and rejoining but no luck :man_shrugging:

+1 for this!

I live by the old Summary/Left to Spend RAG :innocent: Surely this can just be incorporated into Targets in the long term? Main drivers for me are just being able to see what I can spend minus any pending bills.

I’d like the option. Such as the implementation of the Spotlight Layout settings. Currently you can’t see it by default and have to choose to see it (ā€˜Show in Home’)

This seems a bit pointless. If changed to ā€˜Always visible in Home’ (below example) this would flip the current behaviour and allow the hide for people who don’t want to see it - unless they swipe down. In other words, it is never permanently hidden:

I’ve turned it on (again) and I’ll be turning it off (again).

Personal and joint pots are still lumped together, which doesn’t work for me. Joint pots aren’t ā€œmyā€ money.

I can’t get an overall balance on my business account (account balance plus pots balance). Well actually I can but I have to make Trends useless in order to do so by including all pots. The old ā€œpull down for total balanceā€ was simple and easy to find.

It’s better than the first iteration but…

Don’t know if this has already been requested but the ability to pin ā€˜other accounts’ at the top with Monzo accounts would be great

I think that’s planned for soon :soon:

One thing I’d really like to see with the new spotlight feature is when ā€œTotal upcomingā€ is 0, that tile automatically hides as it’s not displaying anything relevant.

Other than that, I’m also in the club of wanting this pinned at all times :eyes:

Now if the spotlight tiles were selectable Android Widgets…

OMG yes.
Let’s go a step further… WearOS tiles! (These aren’t the small complications, but the full screen ā€˜apps’ you swipe through, perfect size)

  • Tapping the left to spend widget takes you to the Balance tab in Trends, but with just the Monzo current account selected. This is amazing. It solves a big pain point in Trends where the Balance tab always had the same accounts filters as Spending. I can now use the tab!

If I understand you correctly then I’m in 2 minds about this. Given the instant access savings account has a much higher interest rate, I keep my balance in my current account and the bare minimum to cover upcoming bills/spending (which the bulk of non-direct debit spending goes on a credit card) so left to spend for the month doesn’t really mean very much if it’s just based on balance in the current account less up coming bills for me.

But then I’m not sure what would. Total income - (total spent + upcoming bills)? As a widget, I’d possibly prefer this. I’ve yet to get in to target tab yet on trends. Coming from YNAB, I haven’t really had the time to work out how to best use Monzo’s features to achieve what I used to with YNAB.
