Over the last few weeks, the app has started freezing. Typically I go into the app, do whatever I need to do, then leave and do other things. Next time I open the app - which might be anything from 10 mins to 4 hours later - the whole Monzo screen is frozen; no scrolling, no button clicking, nothing. Sometimes hard-exiting the app and reopening works, sometimes not. I’ve deleted the app and redownloaded from the app store but the problem persists.
I had this issue a few weeks ago as well and ended up restarting my phone to fix it.
Thankfully it only happened once for me and hasn’t recurred since.
My partner has this issue. She restarted the phone, re-installed app before and after installing latest iOS update and the problem persists. It’s fine when the app is re-installed, but subsequent opening of the Monzo app starts up with it frozen
I’m also having this issue, I can’t access my Monzo app, it keeps freezing and I can’t get a statement off of it
Same issue here. I kept re-installing the app to make it work. Then I figured when I turn on/off the tracking in the settings it wakes it up. My husband got a new phone today and it does the same. Use it once or twice then it freeze. Anytime I chat to Monzo they say the issue is on my end. After my husbands brand new phone having the same problem I don’t believe the issue is on my end.
I have had the same issue for the last three days. Clearly an app issue and not an issue with an individual’s phone as it’s so widespread.
Also having the same issue! I’ve turned my phone off / on - and it works again once, then doesn’t. I’ve uninstalled and installed. Same thing!

Same here - started a week or so ago - iPhone SE - I happen to know my phone is low on storage - it’s started asking me to delete or deactivate apps - so I am wondering if the Monzo app on fresh install is fine but then is slowly getting bogged down with lack of memory until it stops responding.

Yes same problem here. It works if I reset it but having to do that each time I open it is a pain. I think it’s a Monzo issue because my iPhone is up to date etc.

If you cancel biometric login and use your PIN instead it bypasses the issue
Exactly the same issue here, uninstalling, resetting the session, force closing the app all work to unfreeze the app on opening but going back into the app again it’s frozen once more. The app is unusable now
Folks if you can head to your App Store and update to the latest version, this issue has been fixed in the latest patch ![]()
I updated the app loads of times over the last week but the problem didn’t go away. I’ve been able to close and reopen the app after a few minutes and it’s working fine - so far. Fingers crossed it will keep on working now.
Same here. I’ve been using the app without problems for a couple of years, now, but it froze today (12/8/25) for the first time. Restarting the app and my phone didn’t help, but what did work was toggling “Background App Refresh” in settings. Then it woke up, updated today’s spending, and is now working normally.
