Android vs iOS - screenshot comparison

Android Current Account app preview period has just been announced. If you are up for the testing challenge, make sure you register your interest.

For those who want to see it even know, I have some screenshot comparison between both Monzo Bank apps.
Left images are Android and right column is iOS, unless header says otherwise.

Screenshots below were taken at the beginning of August and apps are a bit different now. If I manage to get ahold of ios device, Iā€™ll update it.

If Iā€™m seeing this correctly, there is no spending download option on Android?

Nope. There are few differences still, but Monzo promised app parity on full launch though. Both iOS and Android are missing functionalities from prepaid apps too, at least for now.

In terms of Current Account functionalities - both apps have CA basics at the same level.

Thanks for posting that additional clarity.
Looking forward to it - more excited than I was when waiting for the crowdfunding lottery. At least we know for the CA, we are all winners

I think I prefer the look of the Android version now. Looks a lot cleaner vs the iOS version.

Thanks for posting these. Iā€™m an :green_apple: Apple guy but always interested in the :robot: Android way of doing things.

Good to see they are designing specifically for each platform. Iā€™m also on iOS so have never seen the Android version. Personally not a fan of the look of the Android app (lack of grey text for USD amount, lack of shaded day headers, big blue area at top, font, rectangles around categories in spending, layout of transaction details etc.), but I guess thatā€™s why Iā€™m on iOS! Good to see the Android developers arenā€™t designing it for me, I assume this is what Android users like/want.

the spending area of the app is the worst part IMO. It doesnā€™t follow material design.

I agree that the local currency should have less weight.

And the big blue area is the app toolbar, and it what makes Android nicer for me. App are colorful

Apart from the ā€˜spendingā€™ screen, where iOS wins, I think Android looks so much better!

Itā€™s probably also worth noting that the massive blue block on the android transactions screen is where the map would appear if the transaction had geo data associated with it. For internet transactions and the like this is missing, and the map area doesnā€™t collapse, leaving you with the large blue block.

It sounds like thatā€™s worth reporting as a bug, through the in-app chat.

Iā€™m pretty sure they know about this already as its been mentioned in the dev slack in the past

I see what you mean but Iā€™d be surprised if the team catch every message thatā€™s posted there + thereā€™s a dedicated team for the current accounts who arenā€™t very active in the Slack.

Itā€™s a UI bug carried over from the Pre-paid app.

Thanks for this. Very happy with the android layout, which on my 5" screen looks perfect with a ā€œLargeā€ font system setting and fine with all other font sizes. :+1:

On some screens such as the setting up a payment screen I prefer android but then on others I prefer the iOS screens.

The iOS ones do feel a bit blander and more formulaic as the android ones feel like theyā€™ve been designed. Maybe this is down to Android having more in their material design pack

The screenshots could do with updating to reflect the recent changes to the transaction screen on Android @Avishai

Well, I no longer have ios device, so I would be able to update Android version only and that would break continuity. Iā€™ll add a remark to the first post however that itā€™s a bit outdated.

Can anyone else help get Marta some iOS screenshots?
Also, Iā€™m not sure why the help on Android opens up in the browser for you, for me it just uses an internal webview.
