Amazon Cashback - misleading?

Just a quick rant…I think the following might be misleading, especially when it comes to treating customers fairly under Consumer Duty.

I made a purchase through the Amazon App using my Monzo debit card but did not earn cashback.

I chased this, but apparently the transaction wasn’t eligible for cashback and I can only imagine this is because it wasn’t done though the web?

The only exclusion I can see is that it needs to be done online, but as Amazon is a web based store I think this is just a bit nuts.

What did you buy?

And isn’t it “Morrisons @ Amazon” or whatever? Unless you’ve got a really good cashback offer.

I bought a food processor.

My offer was the below:

Did you ask support and did support give that as the reason?

I can’t see anything that would explain why the transaction wasn’t eligible, then, assuming you spent more than £30. Online is online, regardless of using an app or website directly.

I would contact support and ask for a detailed explanation of how this is ineligible.

I know often on other cashback apps, Amazon cashback isn’t valid if it’s more a seller who isn’t Amazon.

Also through some other places it’s only on Amazon products.

Either cases, they’d need to make this clearer

I spent £70 and I usually wouldn’t spend that on my debit card but the offer was quite attractive. Very disappointed.

Have at them with a complaint. At the very least, a different set of eyes will look at it and you’ll always have the option of escalating it to the FOS if you aren’t satisfied.

Chances are it’s either an error in the wording or there’s something you’ve missed.

I suspect it’s an error. There are other offers that say ‘online only’ but they’ve definitely worked with the app - which by any definition is online. If using the app was excluded that would be/must be listed
