2025: What do we want to see? 👀

You have all completely misunderstood my perspective lol.

My vision was that the monzo logo (in words) could animate into the top left with a smooth animation of like “hello (name)!” and possibly just a hot coral background or a picture (maybe just give the option) whilst face id does its thing as usual wouldn’t take much longer than right now imo.

Thing is - everyone’s different! So possibly have the feature able to be turned off!

I believe monzo did actually have a lock animation at one point… which i grieve daily lol

I can’t believe you’ve posted (and subsequently argued for) an idea to make the app worse.

It’s okay though. People who want the app to be slower can have a toggle to turn it on.

Revolut seems absolutely chaotic to me whenever I’ve tried to use it

Monzo charging for features like this leaves me with such a bitter taste. Don’t know why I pay the £3/m tbh

this is your personal opinion?

you can’t come onto a community on the internet and get annoyed when your opinion isn’t agreed with…

If it’s such a terrible feature you wouldn’t see literally every other app have a load screen - Starling, Revolut, Santander, Nationwide, Natwest.

There’s just no need to be rude!?

Are they loading something up? Would that not be a “feature” of a slower app?

If they are purely aesthetic I wouldn’t understand the logic as it’s surely making your app longer to open?

I’d much prefer the Lloyd’s app to just log me in than spend however many seconds it takes to load up and authenticate.

The app lock feature on the monzo app is enough security for me and you don’t need false loading screens to make something feel more secure.

A iPad app will be perfect for me, especially if it can be used on both a phone and iPad without being forced to just choose 1 device

And that can be used on Apple Silicon too!

I’d love an iPad app

Not for this reason, but recently I got a new iPad and tried to add my Monzo cards to Apple Pay, but it didn’t trigger anything on the iPhone Monzo app to verify adding them to Apple Pay on my iPad.

I added/removed the cards from the iPad numerous times but I still got nothing on the app to verify them. In the end the only way to fix it was to install the iPhone app on my iPad, which then allowed me to verify the cards for Apple Pay, but of course it logged me out on the iPhone.

Umm for now, the 1p savings challenge lol. I mean the whole point was to start from January 1. :joy:

Account wise: Fee free overdrafts like first direct offer, more card colour options, physical cards that can be used with a pot not just virtual cards, and more perks on the paid plans.

Accounts wise a version of Monzo “Premier” would be pretty cool.

My Monzo is fairly fast. I don’t have time to think about the Monzo logo before the app opens. It doesn’t need a splash screen.

New to Monzo so undoubtedly these things have been suggested before, but really enjoying seeing all of my accounts in one place. On that note, being able to connect my Atom Bank account in 2025 would be great.

Other than that, I travel a lot for work so will often be unable to use my Perks, being able to gift a fellow Monzo user a sausage roll or cinema ticket would be nice!

Not sure why yours takes so long.

I just screen recorded mine opening from complete launch (ie. Not already opened).

2:52 on the video the app opened
3.12 on the video got my homescreen

That’s 0.6 seconds or so.

Obviously yours is taking longer but I’m not sure working on a splash screen for such small amounts of time is worth Monzo’s time. Personally I don’t feel any latency on launch.

What would people think about additional optional challenges, similar to the 1p, but designed at self-improvement?

For example, what if Monzo came out with a “Sober Up” challenge, where you could designate an amount of money to set aside in a locked pot, which accrues interest at your normal rate, but which can only be unlocked by self-certifying the challenge each day. You would obviously be able to access the money at any time, but you’d forfeit the interest in doing so. I could see myself joining such a challenge, and locking £500 away for six months as an incentive to cut back on drinking (not that I drink a huge amount, but I could always drink less, and I do tend to respond well to financially-linked challenges).

Monzo could do similar challenges based on eating/exercising, reading, meditation, really whatever. Even something as simple as designating your own goal, as long as there’s a way to go in the app and certify each morning/night that you’ve completed it.

There shouldn’t be an additional financial incentive (like Monzo matching the interest or something like that) as that would just encourage people to cheese the system. And I don’t doubt many people wouldn’t understand the appeal. But I’d certainly use it!
