New app icon on iOS and updated branding in the App Store
I do quite like the new branding however I think it would have looked so much better if they rolled it out once EVERYTHING was ready. Still a bit of discrepencies across the app/splash screens etc.
Then again it looks much better than Barclays roll out of their new branding ![]()
Does look like the biscuit branding has been quietly shelved too…
Just opened Zopa bank account. Does the 2% cashback on DD work as advertised, i.e. no restriction including DD to [non Zopa] savings accounts ? How do they not lose money on this cashback ?
They are probably losing money on it to date as it’s a loss-leader to try and draw people in to use the bank account and deposit more money with them.
But they do loans which charge a higher rate of interest. Unlike Chase that do not lend atm except via their credit card.
Ah just found out the 2% cashback is limited to £1500 per year. That looks a bit like a joke … eg compared to iFast who has been giving 2% cashback on £2000 (card spending) per month (not for much longer though).
2% cashback on council tax isn’t a bad deal.
Yes of course, something is better than nothing, I was just saying giving £30 reward/bonus per year as loss leader is not going to bankrupt them…
Oh for sure, they’ll be making plenty in other areas anyway.
Now that Santander is scrapping 123 Lite this is better than I can get from Santander. If I were to switch to Santander Edge I think I would only get back around £12/year after fees (with 123 Lite I was getting around £50/year after fees). So I’m probably going to move my direct debits to Zopa.
Are the details better recognised now? When I tried to move mine only about half would accept the instruction (Amex and my council wouldn’t).
Haven’t tried yet. My Santander 123 Lite account will continue until late August so no need for me to switch until then.
I know I’ve set my bills to come out of zopa via direct debit and my car insurance was set up and showing but some reason the direct debit was returned. All my other bills are due to go out on the 1st so they better work or I’ll be ditching Zopa lol

Reason I ditched Zopa.
I’ve just moved one of my direct debits back to Monzo coz I can’t risk my car finance payment being rejected coz they are very keen on reporting it as a missed payment to the credit reference agencies (yep even after 1 or two days). All the others I can send a manual payment to - just questioning myself to move them all back now though lol
Just got through to the chat which only took 3mins to discuss my concerns over the last direct debit being taken and returned. Voiced my concerns over the possibility of others being returned unpaid and they didn’t look into it, just script talk of direct debits are sent if money is available etc. not really helpful or looked into why that happened or reassured me my other direct debits will be sent. We shall see. Already put it to them I don’t fully trust them yet - and she agreed and said she could understand that and will make a note of it. Haha

I found them completely unhelpful when I was trying to explain that Amex won’t accept their details for a DD instruction.
I’m still waiting for their “goodwill gesture” to hit my Monzo account.
They have till Friday though tbf. 10 business days.
That’s for Amex to resolve tbh, they need to update their systems to accept newer sort codes.
