Do Zopa debit transactions vibrate?
Thanks, not sure if I wanna give it a go.
I need to learn to budget properly though.
Chase for fuel, transport and grocery spend for cashback.
Monzo for day to day, and Lloyds mixed in for other cashback offers as and when.
I want to go all in Revolut but not until they have a full licence.
Pretty much the same as me ![]()
If there was more budgeting features it would be a strong offering.
Noticed that Zopa now charge a £5 fee for opening an account.
A one-time fee of £5 is required to open an account and gain access to these rates, which will be fixed for 12 months.
A one-time £5 fee will be collected from your Zopa account within 60 days of account opening.
Pfffffft
Nope.
Definitely not for me. I closed the savings accounts a while back, so when I work out how to close it, this is gone too.
Twenty minutes on the chat and the closure is now pending.
Based on my experience it’ll still be there at Christmas.
What about after Christmas though?
I already have an account but the 2% DD cashback and access to the 7.5% regular saver means that the £5 would soon pay for itself. In any case it’s certainly an interesting choice to charge a one-off fee though, never seen that on a bank account before.
If you already have an account it shouldn’t apply.
Actually seen a bit more info on this one and it’s not as clear cut as it seems.
Looks like they are doing some a/b testing on different sign up offers.
If you sign up through the website, you get the £5 charge.
Some adverts on FB offer 3% cashback rather than the 2%
Signing up via the app apparantly gives you the standard 2% offer and no sign up fee ![]()
Looks like there is yet ANOTHER Zopa offering out there in the wild!
2% cashback on Direct Debits
2% interest on account balance
1% cashback on spending
Interestingly, this offer doesn’t give access to the 7.5% savings rate.
Again, new customers only lol
But like…
WHY.
This reminded me to close my Zopa bank/account and apparently you can’t close your account if you’ve had a quote in 30 days… but I literally cannot have had a quote:
Weirdly I’ve never been eligible and I’ve never checked. I don’t need a loan:
They run frequent, automated soft checks on your eligibility so it’s possible it’s one of those that has declined. Does seem a bit odd to not let you close the account because of it though.
More than odd yes, I don’t mind them running checks if they want but I shouldn’t be penalised if I’m not requesting them.
