YouTube Pemium Account Fail

I have today attempted to set up payment for a YouTube Premium Account. The first two months are free then the subscription is due to be taken at the end of February then monthly thereafter.

My Monzo account shows an Active Card Check from Google and then ‘Transaction Pending’ (GOOGLE *TEMPORARY HOLD g.co/helppay#GBR). Google webpage claims ‘Transaction Declined’.

Please advise as to how i might resolve this.

Hey @Algypug - Welcome back to the community!

Usually when you sign up for new subscriptions for the first time or with a new card, the company charges a small amount on your card to check it’s active and has funds available for the next payment to debit.

This varies from company to company as some don’t always charge - as it’s a temporary hold it should drop back the same day (this depends on how quickly the merchant refunds it back) otherwise it should drop back into your account by the 8th or 30th day from the date of the transaction.

Alternatively if you don’t want to wait you can reach out via the app and we can try to look and reverse this earlier for you.

Maybe it failed because YouTube didn’t test properly, and no-one else has ever gone that far through the signup process for YouTube Premium before?

Edit: lame attempt at humour, before I get flamed…
