Wiki: Current Account Switching Incentives 💸

Probably a bit specific but does anyone know if I open an RBS account with the special form for Child&Co if I’d still receive the switch bonus? Can you switch as part of the application?

I did in November for the last offer they had. 15-80-00

OK - it’s a few months since I did the switch and could only remember that you could do it as part of the application.

@ndrw had an update with Ombudsman, well indirectly.

I had an email from Coop saying “how did we do in resolving your complaint?”

I then called and said thats news to me.

I then got ah we closed it as resolved because we’ve been working with the Ombudsman over the last couple of weeks and they will take it from here.

“Sorry we should have sent you a letter but haven’t. I can see why it would be confusing to be asked about how we did.”

Also found that Coop had combined my complaints into one which is sneaky, so the 20th Feb added into the 24th Jan case.

So ive had nothing from the Ombudsman to say its been assigned or anything but they are clearly investigating the many issues.

And me too. Have you reinstalled?

(I’m only using until I need another sacrifical account for a switch)

You’re putting me off even trying!

Did you start the CASS off when you apply online?

For the NatWest/RBS/Ulster you don’t need to CASS on application but makes sense to if you dont have an account.

If you already have the account open you select the switch into existing and enter your account/sort and last four card details to verify you made the request.

Yeah you’re correct its oddly worded in the Ts&Cs that if you have an existing before Feb 14 you are fine but from Feb 15 onwards that it would need to be done at the same time as creating the account.

Seems a weird bit of logic to stuff anyone who made an account but didn’t do the CASS at the same time.

They’ll be able to tell you your details.

They’ll still be able to tell you. You can do all banking in each other branches. (NatWest/RBS/Ulster)

Halifax opening was so quick. I got my mobile banking activation letter within 24 hours.

Now waiting on the CASS

Now for the Ulster battle!

As they are paying me after 13th Feb, then my theory was that I could do them all, which has proven to be true. Well, 2 out of 3 so far.

Completed on the Friday for Natwest, paid on the Tuesday. Similar for RBS.

How long has it been?

I just did the Ulster application, and it’s given me a switch date of 5/4 :man_shrugging:

It did all seem rather simple but I know that isn’t the norm! I’ve not done any ID checks either yet, so not sure how they can plan to start my switch.

If it’s that soon I wouldn’t worry yet.

Sounds simple enough!

Did you send any form of ID?

I have zero faith in my local Natwest branch, so really want to avoid them if I can.
