Wiki: Current Account Switching Incentives 💸

So whats a decent trash account to begin this jolt? one that never has switching offers and not fintech?

A secondary account at a bank where you already have an account? Lloyds, NatWest or TSB is good for this. Or try Metro or Barclays, they never have offers.

I used a second account with Lloyds, that was instant and very easy.

I’ve also used Metro/Starling. Metro took Sat > Weds to get the card. Starling was longer but that was when the postal system was up shit creek.

I can’t get a RBS or NatWest account as I kinda didn’t pay my overdraft back when I was 19 hahaha they really hold a grudge coz I’m 38 now and won’t allow me even a basic account lol

The rage this brings, constantly on app or website or desktop via mobile  can’t tap off it or click it off.

Dusted the laptop off and done within a minute.

That seems harsh. I had similar back in the day with HSBC (when I was a stoodent) and that’s how I ended up with Natwest.

Strangly, I’m now back with HBSC, so things do change eventually.

do any of these banks have features like the bills pot that monzo have ?

Customer: “NatWest I know I never paid back what you lent me, but can I have another account just so I can ponce another £200 off Halifax?”

NatWest: :put_litter_in_its_place:

Lots of them let you have a second account with a sort code/account number that you could move your bills to.

But really most people in this thread don’t care about features, they just want the money and move on.

Natwest > RBS :white_check_mark:

If they pay at the same speed as Natwest then I should have it by Tuesday. Then I’ll move it to Halifax. Then maybe Ulster?

How’s your Ulster move going @ndrw? Are they this terrible for everyone or are you just unlucky?

I think I’ll risk the headache as I don’t think there will be any other banks doing switches that I can take advantage of anyway, so it doesn’t really matter if they take an age.

Annoyingly I was there last month, could have popped in!

To be expected in the end as it worked for someone else, but I got £200 today from my Natwest > RBS switch.

Halifax opened as they are quick payers apparently. Switch completes 29/3

Halifax paid out today and switch isn’t even due to complete until the 23rd, fastest so far.

Still waiting on mine. Gonna assume they know I’ve had one in the past

I’ve tried NatWest and RBS at same time, (two switches on go at once), really chancing it but as had Ulster bank offer a few years back, but worth a try when others are able to switch from NatWest to RBS and get reward. I will keep you all updated.

Okay so I sacked of starling to Halifax as my Lloyds to Santander is taking too long to pay out.

Been a bit late to the game and missed Co-op completely.

But got Lloyds sorted a few weeks ago. Just need to make one card payment on TSB by Friday. And Halifax and NatWest in progress and completing next week. Then onto RBS!

This is fun :ok_hand:

I don’t want to upset them, I’ve had a Lloyds account for 25+ years

I’ve had about 6 donor accounts out of LBG over the last year which have been switched elsewhere in a short timeframe

I only did one, so I’ll stop at that I think!

Concerned by this as the only thing I have open and use Lloyds for is my help to buy isa. If they close that I would be soooo angry
