When will Monzo support Apple Pay?

But linking with partners who do offer those key features which gives the customer the choice of which product to use rather than being tied into the banks one size fits all product.

500 posts on Apple Pay! Wow clearly a serious hot topic!

I’ve been recently impressed with the speed the London tube can now read NFC trough Apple Pay. Not sure if I’m slowing down or there was an improvement.

Sadly that was with starling while I was waiting for a replacement monzo card.

I definitely believe that Monzo is delivering what other banks do but faster cleaner and of course more!

Just missing that Apple Pay :crying_cat_face:

I am still user #0… That bug has been reported since probably November and I bet it is not that hard to fix…

But apart from that and Apple Pay, pretty satisfied with their service and ethos.

I found this as well. I started using Apple Pay on Tfl from day one but gave up eventually because an Oyster card was much quicker.

I took a journey a few weeks ago and lent my Monzo card to a friend and I used Apple Pay and was surprised by how quickly the gate opened. It still seems a bit laggy on buses though, so I’ve reverted to Oyster.

Shame Apple Pay is laggy on busses, I found Samsung Pay works just as well as my credit card.

That bug has been fixed  Which version of the app are you running?

I’m still 0 on iOS

Maybe I should just clarify what I meant by laggy.

The time between touching the phone to the reader and the green light coming on seems to me to be noticeably quicker at a station than on a bus. It’s still less than half a second, I think, unless you also count the time taken to take your gloves off.

I think that it’s still the case that Oyster is quickest, followed by contactless, then iPhone.

1.9.30 #380 - latest in the App Store… (iOS)

I’m still zero too…android.

If the main stumbling block was percentage of customer-base that can use Apple Pay, now that Monzo prepaid is officially dead, I suspect it will be inbound sooner rather than later. However, it depends when someone officially stops being a ā€œcustomerā€.

Is it the day the cards stop working? If so that was yesterday.
Is it the day Monzo no longer holds their money? If so you’ve got a couple of weeks (ish) for those with a positive balance, or yesterday for those with empty accounts.
Is it when the account is fully removed? If so, I haven’t seen anywhere how long someone has to upgrade their account before their account is fully closed, so it’ll be however long that is.

After all that, you’ve then got actual implementation time. I don’t know how much of that can actually be done in advance, whether Apple even lets you connect to their systems if you say to them ā€œthe percentage of customers will be low for a while yet, but we’ll only put it live when we close prepaidā€.

Basically holster your riot and give it a bit lol

I too am still user 0, on latest TestFlight

I’m (almost) certain implementation is pretty much fully complete, so hopefully it won’t be much longer.

I apologise - my mistake! :see_no_evil:

I saw @Rika’s Pull Request a few weeks ago and assumed it had been merged (it hasn’t - there was a deploy freeze)

This is actually a backend change and involves changing some legacy prepaid code and backfilling data that is missing. I’m sure Rika will be able to go into more detail but hopefully this should be deployed soon

Apologies for the mix up!

Yes that’s exactly what I want!

iOS update just landed. I was excited for a second then disappointed again after I read the release notes.

Just re-iterating… We have no news about Apple Pay.

We fully understand that this statement will unfortunately lead to endless amounts of speculation.

Just don’t start thinking that the speculation is in any way factual. That’s a road that leads to problems.

Wishful thinking is one thing, but as and when we have any news on this, you’ll all be the first to know, we can promise you that.

Doesn’t sound like it’s rocking up anytime soon unfortunately!
