What's the Last Bit of Tech You Bought?

In the past 3 months… Mesh WiFi system, really good professional headset for all the teleconferencing, and a 21:9 monitor, Chromecast.

Been looking into eero as well, though tempted to go down the Ubiquity rabbit hole :hole:

Iphone SE

Put it on my credit card so I can have the 50 or so clubcard points from it (transferred the money straight to it so it doesn’t affect my utilization)

Battery on my pixel was getting bad and the USB C port started to play up when USB teathering no matter how many new cables I used

Out of interest why not another Android phone?

I liked the freedom to install non play store apps but I just prefer the way IOS flows so nicely and doesn’t have strange glitches every so often.

It was a good 2 years with my pixel and the phone was great and android was until it starts being a pain.

Also tesco credit cards don’t support google pay but support apple pay. (I don’t use mobile payments but I like to have my debit and credit cards there for backup)

I can sell it and get some money back, it’s what I do.

I normally say a phone lasts 2-3 years 4 at a push.
Repairing pixels is a pain to do and i’d rather not have to go and get it repaired at a shop.

Most recently, a Garmin 530 cycle computer. Have started cycling again after a couple of years but don’t know the roads in my area so wanted a decent product with mapping capabilities to encourage me to use it more.

Before that, probably mesh wifi. Got the Tenda Nova MW6 3-pack a couple of months ago to get wifi into the garden. Gives me full signal right to the end of it now which is incredible.

Hi, I went for a Linksys Velop system. Not the absolute newest one with WiFi 6 which was ludicrously expensive. But for a 3 bedroom brick built 1950s house (solid walls) with a modern extension (even more solid walls) it does what I need. 3 nodes (one on each floor of the original build and one in the extension) give really good coverage and speed throughout the house and garden now. I need a solid signal rather than extreme speed.

I’ve just bought myself a Varia RTL510 radar/rear light to link up with my 520 Plus. Looks like a decent piece of kit - reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Bound to get hit by a car first time I use it…

Overkill is definitely the right word for most households with ubiquity :joy::joy:

Eero and linksys are good options for the balance between customising controls and simplicity

Recently bought a Sonos Arc and an Ethernet switch :ok_hand:t2:

can’t decide which one I’m more excited by :joy:

Just got a Fitbit Aria Air scale yesterday. I had a smart scale before but I want to keep all my data with Fitbit since I also have the Charge 4.

And I just pulled the trigger on the Google Nest Hub Max. The fact that it also works as a Nest security camera which I can monitor from elsewhere sealed the deal. Scored one new on eBay for £150!

Apparently it has great sound as well, second only to the Google Home Max which I already have. So I’ll set them as a speaker group and see how that sounds. Looking forward to it arriving.

As in, those boxes to expand 1 ethernet cable into multiple…?

I must be mistaken, if that is equal excitement levels to the Arc! I’d be interesting to hear how it performs (the Arc, not the switch) once you’ve got it running.

I’d love some feedback on the scales when you’ve lived with them a while- I’ve been really tempted to get some for a while but you just can’t trust reviews on Amazon anymore!

Potential for public roads soon

I finally got my Switch so now I need to find another technological item to obsess over getting.

My PC is overdue an upgrade so might have to spend my cash on giving it some TLC

Just ordered one of these. Would have liked to have bought two, but justifying one was hard enough…

I could go on a round the world tour for that money! Hope it sounds good

The Arc has been great so far!

Really good clarity and sound stage. Surprisingly good bass even without a sub (though tempted to get a sub later on).

It’s nice to have another airplay 2 speaker in the living room to go along side with the HomePods for music when I’m Air Playing.

Haven’t had a chance for much atmos stuff yet but so far the surround sound from a sound bar is actually really good.

(The Ethernet switch is good too :joy:)
