What would you like fixed\improved in the Monzo app?

The biggest tweak on my list would be very easy to implement. When I’m wearing a face covering, I can’t login to the app as Face ID on my iPhone fails.

Other apps will let me put in the device passcode or some other authentication method (maybe my card’s pin?) but Monzo just refuses to let me login, so I have to remove my face covering to let me into my bank.

Thoughts?

It’s an awkward work around, but press logout and then you can type and log in with your details.

I don’t think it’s allowed to be your cards pin, so that’s why other banking apps make you choose a 6 digit code.

Won’t your phone then be doing the job of the facemask?

Another workaround would be to turn your back or move into a corner/space away from everyone while you do it. It doesn’t take long

I might be wrong but i’m pretty sure Apple released an update where you could add a “second appearance” to Face ID, i.e yourself in a face mask specifically to help in scenarios like this

Edit, Yup i’m right, just checked, go to:
Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Set Up Alternative Appearance > Put yiur mask on and go through set up

Parity. Parity. Parity.

Is it in the parity wiki? :stuck_out_tongue:

Staying with the ‘minor tweaks’ theme, the biggest thing in the app for me that just doesn’t work is the ‘Change Period’ button / drop down at the top of the Summary screen (in yellow):

No matter how much I press, poke, or jab it (:point_left::point_up_2::point_right::point_down:), it can take me 5 or 6 times to trigger a response. It really does make me feel like I have Homer Simpson-sized fingers :grinning:

Does anyone else have the same problem?

IOS problem by the looks of it

I’ve got an iPhone XR and relatively big fingers and it works pretty much every time for me. I actually find I can purposely try and miss it and still trigger it, i.e if i click the wrd Summary it still works without fail

Thanks for this! Apparently if I purposefully miss the blue text and aim for ‘Summary’, all is well with the world. Not intuitive in the slightest, but I feel somewhat appeased :grinning:

Parity between iOS & Android, yes please!!

Anyone know why on Android you can access a cool map for all of your spends… but lacking on iOS?

Next on the list, please fix broken or abandoned features…
Payments via Siri (Apple highlighted Monzo when it launched this feature, I had hoped eventually Monzo would support Paym & this would be perfect… but just disappeared)

Monzo Me link Apple/Google Pay payments disappeared, alternative to this is Paym support (but don’t just sneakily remove the feature)

Dare I say fixing merchant information… but might be too big of an ask for minor fixes.
I won’t mention the other killer improvements in this thread.

I can answer some of these for you

Because it was a monzotime project or whatever they’re called - basically free time for developers to work on whatever they like. I wouldn’t call it a feature either, I looked at it once or twice and it’s a nice thing but it’s not very accurate at all.

You’ll need to be a bit more specific with this one, unless with that you were meaning the things I’ve commented on below?

It’s unlikely because they have their own payment with friends system

It was costing too much to run. This is why there are low limits for monzo.me too.

It would be nice if the summary and budget took into account you used the get paid early option otherwise it messes up.

Having a Dark Mode maybe

I do also think that the all white view mixed with all the information on screen transactions and card at top Looks a little messy and cluttered. Dunno what can be done there but would be nice to see it Tidier

I thought it was because of an update to the payment processor and needed work on Monzo’s side to re-enable. Work that hasn’t happened yet.

Plain and simple: two week summary period

I want to know my balance at points in the past. The graph line used to facilitate this. But now I don’t think there is a way? If the transaction details page could show the balance after that transaction completed, then that would be great.
Mostly, I want to know how much money I had left over at the end of the last month. But my payday isn’t super reliable.

Generally, the feed entry called ‘Spending report’ shows money in, money out (and into pots) for the specified Summary period - and this report shows on the day after the specified Summary period. It also shows how much you had left over and gives the chance to add the leftover amount to an existing or new Pot too.

Another way to see historical figures is to download statements, which show a running account balance with each transaction.

If you download a statement you will see what you need.
