At least you had a lab to escape to. Mine was in Applied Mathematics so I was stuck behind a desk all the time.
I sometimes, when it had been weeks of failed experiments, wished I hadn’t bothered with the PhD. However, although the last few years have been really tough with the crappy funding landscape. I’m so glad I stuck with it. I find it really rewarding.
Although, as is always the case, I’ve made life difficult for myself by choosing a field of study that’s notoriously hard to get funding for… Glutton for punishment!
