What earphones or headphones are you using?

That wouldn’t look conspicuous on the bus at all

No just no! :astonished:

AirPods all the way!

Always been tempted by AirPods, but I only really use headphones to listen to music - and I think I’d miss the inline control to skip the track too much.

I have Siri on double tap on my left AirPod and skip track on my right AirPod!

Oh nice. I didn’t know you could do that. I seem to remember seeing a settings screen once and didn’t realise you could do that! I think I’d have to set one to pause and one to skip and live without previous track and Siri.

You can: Play/Pause, Skip track, Previous track and Siri.

But you can only pick two options, right?

Yep: One for each airpod

Got a lovely pair of “Sony h.ear on Wireless NC. MDR-100ABN” headphones! :sunglasses:

It’s usually monochrome for me when it comes to tech… But 30% off (roughly) for yellow was a no-brainer

If I were to buy again, I’d definitely go for black though!

I carry these daily, they see me through everything; work, home, travel / commuting and even the gym (noise cancelling is a treat for all occasions!) :no_entry_sign::sound:

Besides these, I’ve got a pair of (long since discontinued) Bose IE2 headphones. I had the original Bose in-ear headphones until they fell apart (2yrs) and the same thing has started to happen to the IE2s… I’m so desperately awaiting a USB-C variant of the Bose in-ear headphones  … But I’m guessing it’ll take a while :frowning:

Woah… I’ve had these since January 2014! 4 years, if I’m not mistaken :joy: They were far more durable than the OG Bose’s
The Sony’s haven’t fared too well though, considering they live in a case when they’re not on my head :frowning: There’s a crack going through the headband, it’s not affecting the structural stability (yet) but it’s certainly a weak point.

@simonb How do you find the gestures on the Pixelbuds? I picked up a pair shortly after they were released (and sent them back quite quickly! :innocent:) and didn’t get on with them… The killer for me was:

Hold right ear piece … Next track … pause‘Next track begins’

I just wanted to swipe left and right / up and down for volume and back/forward tracks… Not speak to a (slightly) slow assistant :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a few:

B&W C5 series 1 - wonderful full bass, fully involve you in the music, terribly uncomfortable fit and break cables with depressing regularity [easily worth the £200 if they were more comfortable and didn’t break]

Shure SE535 - amazing clarity, a bit bass light for my liking, not as foot tapping inducing as the C5 [not worth the £500 they originally cost]

a-JAYS 4 - my go to headphone for most stuff with a plug - the flat cables never tangle, the sound is impressive for the price, more bass than the SE535, but not a patch in terms of clarity. Built like a brick shithouse though. [at about £60 quid a steal for wired]

Bose Soundsport BT - typical Bose fake bass response, gave up and sent them back [not worth it at any price ;)]

B&O Beoplay E8 fully wireless. Amazing sound - easily up with the Shure, better bass and wireless too. Marred by occasional dropouts of the left earpiece which is a shame. Blow the airpods away on sound quality and people stop me to ask how they are - they look cool. I keep forgetting to charge them. [in two minds - they are expensive but what price looking like a Borg?]

PSB MC4U2 you hear these and want them. The guy in the audio specialist shop I bought them from had the choice of headphones costing thousands. He admitted that these were the ones he kept returning to. Noise cancelling is good enough but not as good as the Bose. But these are HiFi whilst the Bose are ahem… NOT. In active mode they are stunning. If I want to shut out the world I put these on and turn it up. [cost about £400 I think - you should sell your house and first born to buy these]

Other than that I have some generic phillips non twist braided wire in ear ones.

What is the sound quality like? Does it have good bass?
I’m after some pixel buds but want to know they sound good

It’s pretty damn good to be fair. Better than other Bluetooth buds in the same general price range.

Obviously a similarly priced pair of cabled over-ears will sound considerably better, but that’s the trade-off for convenience and having stuff like Assistant built in.

Google just pushed an update which allows granular control over which notifications you want read to you, which is pretty neat.

I was a huge advocate of my BeatsX and for wireless in-ear headphones for on the go, can’t fault them too much. Had some trouble but as an Apple product, the service was pretty great!

Now looking for something new and all of this thread has built a pretty tough list of options!

For me good battery life & portability are the main features I’m looking for!

This thread has also made me consider other options, if I make a decision I’ll report back :headphones:

AirPods for daily use (making calls etc).

Bose QC35 for anything else.

Poundland ones

The audio quality is as you’d expect for £1 but I’m not bothered if they break when I pull them out my bag
