We're working on a new look for the Monzo app

I have a persistent notification badge on my Home tab, and there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do to dismiss it.

(Apologies if this has already been reported)

I’ve needed to close the app and restart it when I have experienced this. That’s the only way to get rid of it.

@Marky_S, thank you for letting me know, as it’s useful as a workaround.

Hopefully the team can solve it going forward!

Can we have that, please? That would be really, really useful.

This morning I went to do my normal five minute finance review and found the summary tab gone. I found this tab invaluable and actually used it more than anything else.

I relied on ‘Left to Spend’ and ‘Committed Spending’ to understand the state of my finances. The fact that these were both calculated automatically each month is what made Monzo better than any other budgeting tool I have tried to use.

The targets don’t help me because they don’t reflect whether my remaining budget is committed spending or if I can spend it at will. Specifically, can I move it to another category if something unexpected happens during the month. The fact that I can’t create custom categories just makes the situation worse, because now Monzo provides next to no value to my financial life when yesterday it was really all I needed.

Monzo once solved a problem for me by providing he’s automated summaries of my finances, but now I have to go back to doing it by hand, which means maintaining another app.

What happened? Why has it been removed?

My understanding is that you can still access it by clicking on the “left to spend” widget? Is that not the case?

Totally agree, do not like this redesign whatsoever because it has actually taken some functionality away, that even my Legacy bank has?! I cannot scroll back and see what my balance was at a certain point in the past, only my current balance, I used that a lot.

That’s weird. I still have the summary tab and it’s without a doubt the most useful one. The budgeting tools are what set Monzo apart.

I do hope it isn’t going away.

Just a reminder that if you have moved onto the beta layout and it effects your day to day running of Monzo so much that it becomes unusable or not useful you can contact Cops via Live Chat in app and be asked to move back to the old layout.

Hey Chris

Monzo are doing some testing of a new home screen. Details here:

I thought that they were testing it on volunteers and on new joiners. But maybe they are rolling out to existing users

In any event, you should be able to access Summary by tapping on the coloured bar with the “left to spend” figure on the home page.

And if you really hate it, do open a chat and ask for the old screen back. Support should be able to do that for you.

I will be doing that, I really need to see how much money I’ve had at a point in the past and unlike in the past I cannot scroll back and see my balance reflect my balance at that time. Even my Legacy bank lets me do that

It was stopped due to a cease and desist notice

As Danny says, that phrase ran into legal issues. But terminology aside, isn’t that what the “left to spend” figure gives us now?

Personally I would love it if I could have a screen where I could input all of my expenditure for that month. It could be backed up by the direct debits and standing orders known to Monzo, but with the ability to edit the amounts as some do change.

Then I could add things I would be spending on the budgets and should then leave me with an amount I can safely spend.

Also the ability to ‘catagorise’ a transfer to a pot (or at worst a payment to a credit card). I plough most of my spending through American Express and I usually put the amount into a pot so that it’s out of my balance. Being able to just tag that as what I spent it on would give any budgeting tools use for me.

I love change and was excited about the design and everything at first but now I’ve been using it for a while I want to controversially say that I don’t like it

I ultimately can’t wrap my head around the layout and where everything lives :exploding_head:

Viewing pots, seeing monthly spend, switching accounts, managing payments and everything in between requires a lot of flicking back and forth between screens. It’s not got a nice flow to it anymore and instead of having nice big overview, everything has been broken off into separate areas.

I think I’ll be requesting a switch back to the old layout for the time being while this is refined :pensive:

Another bug I’ve encountered is that now on the new layout my Monzo loan has completely vanished? Under the borrowing section I can only see my overdraft. Also if I try tapping on any of the loan payments in the feed it doesnt do anything.

Is there any way to get rid of the 'Left to Spend" bubble at the top of the feed? I don’t use Monzo’s budgeting tools, I don’t find them useful, so it just shows me having £0 left to spend all the time.

I’m gonna guess not

I second this. I don’t want to see it. Maybe in the future I’ll need it but right now it takes up space.

Are these standard iOS actions on lists? I’ve never come across this before, and was totally unaware you could do it in Monzo (I always use the standard tap on the status bar to scroll up).
