Bruno possibly dreading a successful completion of this activity and getting put in charge of Plus as a reward
Any plans for a ‘close’ button on this screen?
Thanks for taking time to write such a detailed response! I hope my post didn’t come across as negative, I’m just trying to provide constructive feedback.
The look of the updated home screen is certainly a step in the right direction, although to echo @anon70107404’s point the home screen is supposed to be a safe haven for users. If a customer gets lost using the app then they should always know that by simply clicking the home icon it takes them to exactly the same place every time. From a UX perspective its counter intuitive. I trust in the process though
The colour scheme of the icons certainly helps scanning the screen better/quicker, although still think the “Do more with Monzo” section links could be moved to a more contextual part of the app. A good example of this in action is where you have placed the link for Monzo Plus. If you were to follow the same pattern then in theory that link should also be put in the “Do more with Monzo” section but it isn’t in that list. Contextually it makes more sense sitting underneath the avatar.
The idea behind this is that your Monzo experience improves if you create a few more Pots to separate your money, plan for holidays, create a Bills Pot to have direct debits come out of automatically, and so on. So as you add more things from this list of actions your account becomes “complete” to the point that you no longer see the buttons to add more stuff because they get pushed down as your account grows.
My response to this though would be “what about those users who don’t want to do all that?” and “why do I have to perform those actions if the app is already meeting my expectations?” Of course this is subjective but I already feel, as a user with 1 bank account and 1 pot, that my account is already pretty complete as its doing what I want it to right now. Its a fine balance between a simple user, like myself and the extreme user who needs/wants to set all that up. Certainly not a decision that can be reached overnight for sure.
As for my final point 4 re: the status icons background colour on Android, the style adopted is based on the older Material design framework, which is being phased out with Material 2.0. Take a look at most of the recently revamped Google apps, GMail, Google Pay, Google Home etc. they’ve moved away from that dated style: Previewing Material Design 2.0. Looking forward to playing with it again next week. Again, these are just my observations and trying to play devil’s advocate in hope that it helps inform some of your design decisions. Just to re-iterate, I’m a big fan of this new direction there are just a few changes that could be made to make it even better.
so a question from me, what’s the latest on being able to quickly scroll through to see previous balances or transaction? One of the nice things Pulse use to do was that quick ability to get a day and look at both the balance and transaction.
Is that still coming?
This looks amazing!
Love the way the overview comes up as the overlay card type thing.
Yep
Seem to remember it was used recently with the PIN issue.
Just updated my app on iOS and tapping the home button when you’re over a pot now takes you back to your feed!
Admittedly the animation isn’t very elegant but the main thing is the feature is there, thanks Monzo!
You used to be able to see your balance plotted on the graph as you scroll back trough transactions, however, with the new navigation enabled in Monzo labs you cannot. I found this quite useful and it seems that the only way to get at this info is by creating a statement, or disabling the new layout.
It would be great if you could see a balance at the end of each day, alongside the amount spent/received which is present
This is the only thing I miss about the old layout. Fingers crossed it comes back.
New iOS TF out which includes the little days remaining indicator on the main screen + the little arrow on the draw.
Seems to be even more polished in terms of performance
Home button goes to create pot and back
Assume you don’t have any pots ?
For me, it cycles through each of my connected credit cards then to that placeholder card and back to the current account. Completely misses all my pots
I have many pots but no credit cards
No haptic feedback dragging the drawer down, which still doesn’t actually move
So when you say
Do you mean that placeholder card which says ‘Things you can do with Monzo’?
If so it did that on the last beta
Didn’t for me
pressed it loads of times
Bizarre because I’m getting haptics
Strange … pressing the home button hasn’t changed for me from this version and the last
iPhone 6s and iOS 12.4 since this is starting to look buggy
When you pull the drawer down from mid point does it move? Mine doesn’t but takes me to the vertical account screen anyway
When it’s at mid point and I pull down from the arrow - it gives me haptic feedback and the screen kind of shrinks in a bit like in some of bruno’s videos.
But the drawer itself doesn’t actually move down any further
