Yeah, it’s a huge step backwards.
Removing functionality and making the app harder to navigate, I’m not sure how anyone can see it as a positive.

What functionality has been removed?
Unfortunately, @delmol, I fully expect this is a fait accompli, …and I’m not under the illusion that my opinions or ideas will make one jot of difference.
I also suspect that those investing time into the community are those who do find the changes to be positive. And that’s fair. But I do wonder if it just means that feedback from the forum becomes an echo chamber for Monzo affirming the choices they’re making.
I’m not reluctant to change, but in order to change I need to see the positives to do so. That’s why I was with Mondo in June 2016, long before many had heard of what was to become Monzo.
I’m disappointed in myself that I can’t find the positives in the proposed app changes. Thanks to Monzo, I’ve explored FinTech and championed these great new ideas amongst friends and colleagues.
I’m starting to wonder if Monzo has lost its way? Good luck to them though.

The balance graph, which I found quite useful, was removed to make way for the card management options and pot cards.
Personally I can’t understand why the card management options have been given that pride of place, since they’re rarely used. How often do you really need to freeze/unfreeze your card or check your pin?
The balance graph was universally hated. So by functionality you mean graph. Why not just write graph?
To be fair, I didn’t hate it.
I do hate Starling’s circle version though.

I expect that to be the case as well. As with most companies they push out updates and the prevailing thought is “they’ll get used to it” when there’s any criticism
The graph served a functional purpose. I can now no longer do something I could do in the previous version (view my balance over time as a graph). I think it’s fair to say that’s a removal of features/functionality.
No ones argued that it’s not. They just requested clarity of language for ease of discussion. Functional does not mean popular as the graph illustrated. I didn’t mind it personally but it wasn’t overly useful. Regardless, there was a lot of passion around it.
I really like this
Personally I much prefer the new navigation compared to the last one but I agree it’s a long way from finished. A lot of the gestures aren’t obvious or helpful just yet. The reason I think it’s the best way forward though was seeing what the app could become at the open office. It’s not there yet but the direction the app is going in so far makes sense if you know some of the end goals
Are you seeing a different community to me?!
Most of the comments I’ve read are praising the redesign. Admittedly, I’ve not taken the time to read all 4,570-ish posts on the subject.
I think the team are using the data from actual app usage to see take-up of new/improved functionality.
The forum contributions will only make up a small part of the feedback the team can see overall.
Looks much better recently but i HATE that you go into settings then have to click setting again for the real settings
There were always going to be some bumpy bits between old and new and that is one of them
I see that a new cog has emerged that smoothes out the bumps a little, which may presage further change
Worth remembering though that even with the old main navigation it was always the case that you needed to get to settings via the (old) Profile page and that seemed one step too many
I’m still getting confused when I go looking for the setting page. When you’re used to 1 way it takes a while
Oh yeah i know it’s been like that forever, i just still hate it and hope with the redesign this is something they change
Visually I think this is much cleaner and gives the profile/overview screen better context than the “zoom out” animation.
Personally, I was looking forward to the “pull down” gesture until I actually got to try it out. Although it is easier to reach than a button at the top of the screen, it’s just not intuitive and hasn’t stuck with me.
I found this post because my mum’s app has been updated to use this new design. She doesn’t particularly like the idea of being a beta tester as she finds changes in how the app looks confusing.
How can I make sure she goes back to using the old design - at least until it’s released across the whole user population?
