We're rethinking Monzo Plus bundles (and some other updates!)

I am in the same boat. I signed up for £3 a month with the intention of adding insurance later but have been unable to do so.

Add phone and contents insurance that does not take CCJ into account.

Life insurance another one.

I used to pay 18 a month for contents insurance to halifax, 15 for halifax ultimate reward account and about another 15 for life insurance till i left them.

Potentially close to £50 a month

If i didn’t have a ccj i would’ve signed up

Along with what I mentioned above, and don’t shoot me for this when I mention “bundles” to refer to what I’m saying here :flushed: but what if with all the discounted offers, airport lounges etc. that you had a separate type of bundle to insurances (and any other major add-ons) where you can pick and choose the type of discounts you want?

Basically, you could have a major and a minor category (both of which you can mix and match) where you could have insurances etc. where you pay a discounted rate per product added on, and the other for discounts at merchants, Monzo “Swag/Merch” and so on - because not everyone can utilise the discounts currently on offer seeing as most of them either aren’t relevant to me personally (and others I expect) or can’t be used because they’re not near where I live.

Wasn’t that Midland Bank?

Agree with this one. Don’t put a card type into a package (in whatever guise you create).

If there are premium cards that you really want to offer (let’s face it, demand is unfathomably present for metal cards) then let anyone choose this for a one off fee and be a product in its own right.

Personally I would stick to the Hot Coral cards - it’s such a surprising marketing statement. If you can do a Hot Coral metal then make it a product and flog it. People would pay for this who would be reluctant to subscribe for it.

What happened at the Plus event? I can’t find the results of that on here…?

Am I missing something here? …
I don’t rent so I need buildings insurance - where is that?
Is monzo plus just for generation rent?

Building insurance would be interesting but not really surprising it’s not available. I don’t think any banks offer building insurance as part of packaged accounts.

Scrap this concept of Plus.

What I want is a full financial services offering, preferably as a full market/panel intermediary which is fully (and simply) integrated with the core home of my finances; my current account.

I think the Savings pots and energy switch offerings are great - such a good and well thought out deep integration, and just need a bit of bolstering.

You’ve already taken complex offerings and broken them down to be simple to a consumer, and you’re very well placed to offer a sort of one-stop-shop for full financial control.

Give me an amazing current account (already doing quite well with this one ). Offer me every type of mainstream insurance. Offer me a mortgage (and advice!). Sort my legals. Offer me a loan via other providers. Find me a credit card.

Oh and while you’re building business accounts, please give me an accountant on tap.

Take your commission for some, charge for others - whatever works.

This will take years to build such a beast, but I’ve been looking for something like this for ages and it would be awesome.

Hey @Sheri thanks for the update. I’m really pleased to see that Monzo has taken the feedback on board and made this change.

For me the removal of interest and non forthcoming of features made me leave plus as bundles just wasn’t what I wanted. So I’m glad to see you’ve recognised that this wasn’t the right direction. And that you’re still experimenting as to what might be.

That’s cool, at least we are getting updates around plus, something that has been sorely missing previously. It was also the thing that really hacked me off about the whole plus bundles thing in the first place, not necessarily the product.

Are you able to share the data that tells you this is now the right direction. I ask only as that’s what the issue I had with bundles was as a plustomer at the time. No communication and suddenly “hey we’re doing bundles now”.

This is a positive step and I’m now feeling super excited for plus again. So long as it’s representational of a wider customer base and not just those on the forum. They are of course valid but I’m aware we’re only a small percent of total customers.

Ps. Will likely rejoin plus as a result of this.

Then why offer contents?
It doesn’t make sense?

Well a lot has happened in two weeks hey!

I know there’s a huge balance between doing so much research you never launch anything, vs the ‘launch and see’ approach - but I hope this means you’ll put more focus on the type of research done for these kinds of paid features.

Money saved in the long run and all

I find it interesting though that when the new Bundles were announced, the research pointed you there, but this isn’t seemingly backed up by conversions/sign ups.

Anyway heres to the next phase of Plus.

You’re the first I’ve seen request buildings insurance so it doesn’t appear to be an in demand product

They did clearly say they had no idea if it would be popular but would look at the data and change it if it wasn’t sucessful

Could be multiple reasons I suppose. They’re just starting out with packaged accounts and can’t provide all possible products immediately is probably a key factor. Also contents insurance is feasible for a fixed fee. Buildings insurance isn’t.

Well why offer contents? It doesn’t make sense?
I have fed this back to monzo.
I don’t think they should offer contents to be fair.
Phone, gadget & travel insurances are the right ones to target.

I also suspect there’s much more possibility to be under/improperly insured when it comes to Buildings insurance so much harder to cater for here?

Not really an answer though?
It could be said that monzo wanted some easy money?

Yeah I know - I did genuinely mean I found it interesting! How consumer insight pans out into actual purchasing (or not).
