Like Monzo Aura?
Thanks @jayclark - will this include the ability to hide/dismiss areas we don’t need?
My pension is elsewhere and as I’m in my 60s won’t be moving to Monzo - similarly investments - I no longer have a mortgage and don’t intend to have another one.
Just savings pots.
Anything else is an unwanted distraction and a waste of space on the screen.
I live in hope ![]()
Yeah I see that falling under the thinking around more intelligent suggestions. Totally get that it should be possible to make a static list of products you’re unlikely to use less prominent.
Thanks for the feedback Chris!
P.s you’ll notice that we’ve done some work here already for adopted products. E.g if you only save you get one view, if you only invest you get another, and if you do both you get a different structure. The thinking just needs extending to non-adopted products.
I think this needs looking at as a whole account view.
I do not have kids, won’t have kids, never will have kids, and don’t want to see or hear about the kid’s accounts in the app - sure, keep it in the “Do more” section, but don’t email me, popups, advertise or whatever it to me. Same with business accounts, pensions, or investments etc.
People should be able say they have no interest in certain functionality & not have it pushed to them - even as the small in-line feed adverts…
You’ve added gold to this now too. That I’ve just dismissed.
But why waste all the space but make me tap again to get to my savings?
Below the top two savings/investments boxes, which I think are correctly placed, give me a list of my saving pots and then swipe to give more detail my investments.
Fine:
Not fine as for some unknown reason I am not eligible for investments and I don’t own a home:
Get rid as I’ve completed them:
The top half of mine, isn’t too bad (as I just use savings).
But 50% of the whole page, is this… I don’t need a “Learn” section, or a list of all the investments. The pension one doesn’t bother me as much as it’s a slim bar, but I also don’t want education by Monzo.
I think there’s a balance between advertising and accessing additional products and also being able to hide unnecessary or irrelevant clutter. A lot of other banks are also guilty of this too e.g. the Barclaycard app offers me a “Buying a car” ad on the homepage that I can’t dismiss. That doesn’t make it OK for Monzo to do the same though.
Monzo can do better, they just choose not to.
fixed that for you
Is it a case of just waiting for this functionality or can we still request early access?
It’ll be “interesting” to see how much Monzo Mobile advertising goes into the app. I think this is just a sign of things to come as Monzo keeps diversifying.
I still don’t have to option to have this feature yet. Don’t know what’s taking them so long
Advertise, fine, but put it in a place if I was looking for products it’s there.
I don’t gets ads in any other as pushy as Monzo. People moan about Revolut but other than the inbox message now and then I don’t see anything.
Can there please be a review on the new layout, no longer having my savings visible to me immediately is really off putting and makes it more awkward to see how much interest im earning immediately. It was much better when you could see your pots directly on the home page and not allowing them on there is a poor decision.
I posted this link in the app evolution thread as well but there’s similar feedback for the Grow tab on Reddit as well: Reddit - Please wait for verification
“Since they launched the grow tab, it shows me pensions and mortgages I can’t dismiss despite not having them. The new suggestions are annoying. The savings rates are poor. They constantly bug me to upgrade. The investments are expensive.”
People are incredibly dramatic about how many “pop-ups” they get or how much the app “bugs” them.
Monzo isn’t anywhere near as bad as Lloyds with its full screen splash marketing all the time.
The high street bank apps have always been like that so people are used to it. Monzo’s issue is that the app used to be quite clean and simple and that’s what a lot of people like and are used to.
