Hmm. I’m not sure they meet my exacting requirements. My numero uno requirement is seamless to match my Uniqlo ones (these ones here in case any one wants to see the no longer available worlds best pants. In the words of Stupid Sexy Flanders, it’s like wearing nothing at all)
I’m a bit dubious of the… storage(?) compartments. Is that neccesary? I feel like I’ve never had a need for a dedicated pocket before. Am I doing Underoos wrong?!
So many questions. I am willing to be wrong though
It’s quarter to eleven on a Saturday night, and I have an assignment due in 36 hours, so of course I am considering signing up to a Cactus subscription service.
Is the late night assignment delirium taking over my brain, or is this something anybody else would consider?
I’ve just started a subscription for “Wild” deodorant refills. I was looking for something aluminium free and now have something that is also almost waste free.
You get a metal dispenser case with your first order and then the little refills are in cardboard. You can choose how often they send replacements (or just buy some when you need them).
So I wanted to try out the SMOL surface sprays however it’s impossible to order just the tablets as you have to order a starter pack which includes 3 X 500ml bottles.
I emailed them to ask why I can’t just have the tablets as I’ve got bottles and don’t need to create more waste and emissions by purchasing something I don’t actually need. I got this bollocks reply
Thanks for getting in touch to ask if you can purchase our sprays refills without buying the bottles first.
Our formulations have been developed to meet specific dilutions as indicated on our bottles. This maintains performance and stability within our bottles.
We cannot ensure performance or stability if our products are contained in other bottles of different sizes or made from other materials.
Using our tested and approved containers ensures we know how the formulation and substrate will behave. We cannot give these guarantees when other containers are used which have been previously held other ingredients.
Hope all makes sense.
It’s an eco friendly vegan product, you’re telling me that these tablets won’t work fine in a competitors glass bottle or any other 500ml bottle that may be lying around that can be reused.
Absolute fail from SMOL on this one! If they’re that bothered about oh performance may vary they could simply include a warning when ordering saying it needs to be a 500ml bottle and the formula may not act the same as it’s not in our bottle
(They don’t actually tell you what size the bottles are, I had to email back asking what size this magical bottle happens to be)
I have the feeling there’s a new factory out there in the world making those dissolvable tabs - cause there’s a fair few ‘eco’ start ups pushing them on Instagram.
One called “Get Homethings” is selling three literally identical concepts to smol (except you can buy the tabs individually), but their current thing is trying to drag down Method and Ecover on instagram, because they use water.
Yet if you look at either of those two companies, they are like the gold standard in what “transparent” businesses can be - they talk about their carbon output, production methods, ingredient sourcing, etc.
It just feels like Smol, and similar, have a little bit of greenwashing in their approach to me some times.
It’s annoying as hell to be honest. I’m currently using Home Things they launched on KickStarter a while back and I’ve been with them since that.
The concept is great and that’s why I wanted to try SMOL as they are pretty much going to be the same thing and I could just of got everything from one supplier. But nope you can’t have them as you’re not buying our bottle 🤦
Unless they change the policy for this I’ll not be using them
I did respond back basically saying that’s an idiotic decision and make sure you pass it up to your managers. You can buy the tabs from a number of other competitors who all say just pop it in x sized bottle and away you go or we sell some you can use here’s the link.
Very odd decision to have to buy bottles before they’ll allow you to repeat order tablets.
This to me smells of someone being worried that customers will buy the tabs, put them in non-standard bottles, mess up the dilution ratio as a result, and then complain about it. Or worse, put the company on blast across social media.
By making sure your customers are using your bottle to measure the dosing, you can at least control for this.
Now, you could argue that they should have more faith in their customers to (a) not make stupid mistakes, or (b) not blow up social media if they do.
Alternatively, they weren’t expecting people to want tablets without bottles, and now some have turned up who want to try the product this way, they’ve had to come up with a post hoc reason why they never thought to offer it as an option.
Who knows. Ach, well. Maybe if they get enough people like you contacting them and not buying their product for this reason then they may change their minds.
