Very.co.uk won’t allow Monzo direct debit

Hmm… not a lawyer but it feels like there might be some legal ground for a lawsuit :man_shrugging:

Or at least the threat of doing so tends to make companies slightly more responsive…

We are exploring what we can do about companies were still having troubles with. Tom tweeted Scottish Widows as another example last week.

We definitely don’t want this to continue happening, really sorry about the trouble :pensive:

I just got my monzo card and loaded some cash to pay my little woods account. I got a confirmation for monzo saying payment successfull but my little woods account has not updated or had an email from little woods saying it’s payed. With HSBC I got the email in seconds and my account adjusted within a few mins. Monzo has the money on hold. If anyone else has payed by monzo debit card not Dd how long did it take to show up in your littlewoods/very account.

I’ve paid by my Monzo card twice recently to pay my very account and it showed up later that day or next day at latest. The payments have not bounced back either.

I’ve found the payments are quite delayed. I’ve only ever paid from Monzo though so I don’t know about other banks. The payments have always gone through.

Appears they’re still not accepting Monzo at the moment, though Very’s customer service has progressively worsen over the years.

They do but you have to drag them kicking and screaming to do so…

Got the same response from Nutmeg on the Run up to Xmas.

This issue has not been resolved. Tried to set up a DDI with Very and the website rejected it. The “customer service” was next to useless - “you have to call the bank as they have rejected it”

Yep know this so pay manually

Would be interesting to know the last time Monzo raised this issue with them? That being said there’s not much Monzo themselves can really do

They still haven’t changed it. It’s really not OK by this point.

Even worse is it’s literally just a front end issue as it works fine if your Very DD is CASS’d in to Monzo

makes you wonder what other parts of their systems are outdated or poorly coded

They still don’t accept Monzo so I tried my Nationwide account which it wouldnt accept either. Phoned them up and they said its because the account I have only would accept 2 direct debits and to contact Nationwide. I knew it wasn’t that but I contacted them anyway and they had such a laugh down the phone :joy:

Moral of the story is Very and Littlewoods haven’t a clue!
