Very.co.uk won’t allow Monzo direct debit

Reason im asking is because next month my money will be coming straight from my advocate into my Monzo ( via bank transfer ) and slightly concerned because Monzo is new.

Seriously, it’s not perfect but I’ve never had an issue with my card not being accepted in the UK. If you keep your Barclays card too, you’ll be fine.

Nice to see BACS coming down heavily on these companies.

Oh wait. They do nothing. No wonder they don’t comply.

I use to spend a lot of money with very.co.uk unnecessarily due to the credit facility - I ended up closing my account with them because I could not set up a direct debit with them.

Best thing I ever did no more shopping when I did not need it

Plus no chance of me missing a payment and getting a charge for it

If very can’t be bothered to get with the times it’s their loss

Very.co.uk are the only people out of my 20 direct debits that do not take Monzo

Thing is I only pay interest free over three payments so it’s actually super useful for larger purchases.

They have said they will set up the direct debit now, but it needs to be done manually by a manager.

Are there actually any penalties for not updating BACS?

This is what I use it for as well. Either the 3 months interest free or the bnpl feature

So I finally got the direct debit set up with them (just today) - they sent the confirmation but nothing is showing up in Monzo yet. Should this be the case?

You should see it appear in Monzo either in a few working days or a few days before the first payment. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve tried to set up a direct debit today with them via the website, live chat and on the phone with no luck. :frowning:

Just tried setting DD up now says the bank can’t be verified.

Drop in app support w message they can pick this up with very to fix :raised_hands:t3:

What do you think the odds of them doing so now after all the prior attempts with this company are?

Hopefully this is something Monzo are already proactively involved in getting them to fix, seeing as this has been an issue for a while now

True, I’m just cynical. Many people have been chasing up this company for a year now. They’re one I think just won’t give in and accept Monzo. Relish is another, I’m no longer a customer but when I was… It was just no way, not happening.

It likely won’t get resolved but worth trying.

Surely reporting them to BACS should fix that. I mean in order to accept Direct Debits in first place aren’t they required to accept all the banks that offer DD?

I tried with Relish, didn’t do any good; and I’m pretty sure some people on here have tried with Very…

My direct debit is going fine and has been for a few months now but like I said it’s so much hassle getting them to do this.
