I think the trick as with all large national companies and their online community offerings is wether you want to any forum you create to be the small minority or very engaged folks, or a place that becomes the support complaint hotline.
I know a few other companies have had forums, e.g. Bulb at one point, but they honeslty just turn into people logging in as an alternative form of customer support or grievance raising. Not saying that doesn’t happen here, but certainly seems a minority of posts.
Pandoras box of getting more engagement I suppose - and one which drives more resource into this platform to manage support than the inhouse tools.

Is there any particular reason why the Good Morning / Goodnight / General Chat topic was nuked? Did it all kick off in there or something?
Nothing against the Discord version of it, but did kind of prefer the slower pace to it all

All under the guises of being doxed…. Which is a load but I think those going wanted to cause as much damage as possible.

True, but if you take away the post that initiated it, technically there is nothing there to reply to, so it all sorts of falls off.
Bit like everyone dangling from a rope off a clifftop, and the rope is cut at the top.

Pro-tip for any more deletions - admin creates a new topic with a similar name. Merge all posts into it. Delete the user as per their request - topic stays but the user’s posts (including the former original post) all gets deleted. Job’s a good’un.

This is sort of how the MSE forum works.
Any post (or thread) created by a [Deleted User] displays as exactly that, and an empty text box.
Means you have to read between the lines, but tis what it is.

That’s the best way.
The discussion will still make sense even if the OP part is removed and you have context as to why their other posts within the discussion have gone too.
The good morning topic had loads of engagement from plenty of people.

Today we’ve added an AI powered filter to flag any inappropriate or harmful content. This is another way to help keep the Community safe and inclusive space for everyone.
As part of introducing this tool we’ve updated our Terms of Service to reflect this.
